How to Craft Gilded Lumber – Nightingale

By
Scott Peers

There are currently three different tiers of crafting stations in Nightingale: Simple, Refined, and Excellent, each of which broadly represents the step up in Essence from tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 respectively. As a result, there are a few crafting stations that you’ll need to upgrade at least three times, such as the Sewing Bench, Masonry Bench, Mortar Station, Tanning Station, Workbench, Saw Table, and more. As soon as you reach the tier 3 (Excellent) level crafting stations, you’ll find that you need a new type of lumber to craft most of them: Gilded Lumber. On this page, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about how to make this useful resource.

The Excellent Saw Table is required to craft Gilded Lumber in Nightingale.

Where to Find Gilded Lumber in Nightingale

The first thing you should know about Gilded Lumber in Nightingale is that you can actually get it out in the wilderness while exploring, without having to craft it. The way you do this is by destroying Fae Chests, plenty of which you’ll find at Sites of Power or even in random Fae ruins in pretty much any realm. You can use any type of axe to hit and destroy a Fae Chest, so you’re not limited as to when you can do this. Most Fae Chests drop some form of Gilded Lumber, especially in Hardwood form, but you can also get it from other random chests that you find in the world, so be sure to destroy them and see what they drop.

Crafting Gilded Lumber

Although you can get Gilded Lumber by exploring before you even have the recipe for the Excellent Saw Table, crafting it is still the most reliable method by far.

Craft the Excellent Saw Table

You’ll get the recipes for Excellent-level crafting stations when you reach The Watch, or possibly before as you explore Hunt realms. Either way, the Excellent Saw Table is one of the first you’ll need to craft since it produces Gilded Lumber, which is required to craft most of the other tier 3 (Excellent) crafting stations. To craft it, you’ll need the following resources:

  • X3 Carved Wood

  • X4 Etched Alloy Ingot

  • X1 Motor

  • X2 Steel Blade

If you don’t yet have the recipe for the Steel Blades, you need to craft the Blacksmith’s Hearth augmentation first. To learn more about that, check our How to Craft Steel Blades page.

Gilded Lumber Ingredients

Once you have the Excellent Saw Table, you should be able to find the recipe for Gilded Lumber when you interact with it, and you’ll see that it costs x2 Ingot and x2 Lumber to produce one Gilded Lumber. You can use any type of ingot that you want, so don’t worry about using the lower tier ingots if you’re just using the Gilded Lumber to build other crafting stations. It won’t make any difference to what you can do with them.

(1 of 2) You need to destroy Fae Chests to loot the Gilded Lumber from them.

So, there you have it - it’s as simple as building the Excellent Saw Table to craft Gilded Lumber but keep in mind that you can get it out in the wild every now and then, too. If you’re interested in learning more about where to find different types of materials, be sure to check the links below.

Nightingale is a PvE open-world survival crafting game with a few unique features for the genre. First among these is the Realm Card system, whereby players can discover and craft Major or Minor realm cards to influence aspects of procedurally generated worlds or character attributes respectively. You may find yourself in a more forgiving or hostile world depending on the Major cards you use, but the Minor cards can give you an edge against foes with boosts to damage, health, stamina, or other aspects of survival. The game is set in the Victorian era and has more than a little influence from Steampunk fiction, so if that’s anything like your thing, you’ll love this world!
