Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

Zen and Rei

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Yasogami High students met at this festival. They both have amnesia. Learn multiple elemental attacks. Their high basic stats and attack variety make them very useful. Best used in the back row. Zen/Rei, at first glance, seem like low-tier characters due to the fact they can’t equip Sub-Personas, but they are actually decent characters. They get access to all four elements, all with relatively low SP costs, and their SP regenerates as you walk through the labyrinths. They also have access to support spells, such as healing HP, ailments and binds (although restricted to one row).

However, their elemental spells won’t gain that punch until much later in the game and the lack of a Sub-Persona means they can’t get any new skills there. Not having a Sub-Persona, though, means that’s one less you have to worry about, due to the attack penalty that happens from your Persona being 5-10 levels below your character’s level. Basically, they’re low maintenance characters, with pretty good stats (only character to have Strength and Magic in the 90s at level 99) and good support abilities. The only problem is that they’re not customizable, meaning they can fall behind more prominent party members.

Skills (level learned)
Bane Slice (–), Serene Journey (–), Recovery (3), Frozen Spear (5), Thunder Clap (7), Becalm (8), Fire Spray (9), Cyclone (11), Refresh (12), Squire Card (19), Renewal (21), Guiding Sword (25), Guiding Staff (30), Platinum Coin (31), Hex Slice (35), Life Goblet (36), Knight Card (43), Soul Slice (50), King Card (63)
