Warhammer 40000: Darktide

Darktide Rating Stat Explained

By
Craig Robinson

Darktide’s various weapons and curios are gear pieces that players can use in their loadout and equipment. These all provide different playstyles and buffs to your character, which you can use to progress through missions and level up. As players progress through the game, they will get better quality items, each with their own weapon stats randomly generated. The result is that every single Darktide item has a corresponding power level, identifying how strong something is. In turn, this is represented by a value with three chevrons on the item, which translates as a rating. Here is everything you need to know about Rating in Darktide.

Darktide Rating Explained

Darktide’s Rating is a stat that players will find on every weapon or curio. The rating reflects the quality of the item, reflecting the strengths and weaknesses. As you play through the game, you will find that items with higher power will further increase the percentages and bars of the curio or weapon’s stats. This, in turn, makes your items provide better stat to you, or perform much better in missions. Equipping items with better stats and rating means that players can take on much harder content.

Its worth noting the game has a reward system for the levels and ratings that you have. Those who progress further and further into the game will find the armory store will offer players better and better ratings on their weapons. The result is that they can then buy new items from the armory, and then upgrade them further to make them better and better as they progress. The higher your rating is, the better chance that the items you get via the Gift of the Emperor will also be of a higher rating. If they are not, then that’s likely down to them rolling as white-quality weapons. However, with crafting, they will likely surpass if your weapon if you upgrade them fully.

The same can be said via the limited acquisitions in Sire Melk’s weekly store. The items you get each day in the shop tend to be the highest-rating items purchasable for their current rating range that players can get their hands on. The result is that you can spend your weekly currency on these items and get the best quality for your current force projection.

As for curios, there is a similar theme with them. However, their rating is considerably much lower than weapons.

Crafting and Rating Improvements

Here is an example of how crafting items can improve the weapon’s rating in various ways..

As alluded to earlier, crafting is one way further to increase the rating and power of your weapons.

  • Perks grant a minimum of 10 power, increasing depending on how good the stat of the perk is on your weapon or curio.
  • Blessings provide around 35 power, increasing depending on the quality of the blessing and its modifiers.

When you Consecrate an item in the blessing of the Omnisiah crafting table, you also improve the stat modifiers on the weapon. You can see a rough estimation of what your weapon can roll into before you commit with the consecration confirm button towards the bottom right of the screen.

Moreso, there are aspects of crafting, such as refining blessings and refining items. These options will alter the actual modifiers on your weapon without upgrading the weapon’s quality. This will allow the player to change their weapon to suit the gameplay and min-max their weapon. In turn, these will likely affect the rating of the weapon. Note that refining blessings lock the other slot from being modified

Darktide Max Rating

At the time of writing the rating stat’s max level appears to be around the 520 mark. This is down to the modifications on the Transcendent orange quality weapons, the base amount of perks and blessings, and the maximum rolls of their stats. Those on the grind for weapons can get an idea of where they can project the rating and level of the weapon they are using in the game.
