The Bowgun is a long-ranged weapon that comes in two distinctive flavours. Light Bowguns specialise in rapid fire and, because of their light weight, allow for faster movement. Heavy Bowguns, meanwhile, pack a bigger punch, but are slower to fire and weigh down their user.

Always remember to purchase ammo from the shop before heading out on a quest.
The reached weapons of Monster Hunter are best used from a static position. Even though the Light Bowgun allows movement it is not a case of moving and aiming. Pick your spot and fire from it.
Reload Carefully : Reloading may not take as long as sharpening a blade, but it’s still an act that will render you incapable of movement for a short while so do not reload if a monster is about to fly into an attack.
Keep Your Distance : When a monster is attacking make sure you take the opportunity to move and keep the creature at arms reach as much as possible. There’s no reason to let it get close to you as you can deal damage at range, so don’t let it!
Shot Up will increase the attack power of your shots.
Reload Speed+ is a great skill to have as it reduces the time it takes to reload, an act that is hazardous at the best of times.
If you’re struggling to aim then Recoil Down+ is another good skill to consider.
