Best Nickel Farming Locations in Starfield

Nickel is a pretty easy inorganic resource to find as it is classed as common, but with hundreds of planets and moons to choose from, finding the right place to set up an outpost can be tricky. That’s why we’ve compiled a list below of some of the best places to find Nickel!

Planet Description
Akila, "Cheyenne System" iconCheyenne System (Level 1) An easily habitable, temperate planet with access to "Water" iconWater, "Nickel" iconNickel, "Aluminum" iconAluminum, "Cobalt" iconCobalt, "Argon" iconArgon and "Benzene" iconBenzene. You’ll also find great flora and fauna here. Plus, you could set up right next to Akila so you can easily travel there whenever you need extra supplies!
Rasalhague II, "Rasalhague System" iconRasalhague System (Level 40 area) As well as "Nickel" iconNickel, Rasalhague II has a great variety of materials on offer, such as flora and fauna, "Water" iconWater, "Chlorine" iconChlorine, "Copper" iconCopper, "Iron" iconIron and the 3★ resource "Caesium" iconCaesium.
Rana III, "Rana System" iconRana System (Level 65 area) In addition to "Nickel" iconNickel, Rana III also has "Water" iconWater, "Aluminum" iconAluminum, "Lead" iconLead, "Argon" iconArgon and "Tungsten" iconTungsten - all vital to outpost building. It also has a temperate climate, high O2 and flora and fauna to discover too, making it a great place to set up.
Niira, "Narion System" iconNarion System (Level 1) This is a bountiful planet but only those with "Planetary Habitation" iconPlanetary Habitation skills will be able to set up an outpost here due to its extreme environment. If you are able to, however, you’ll be rewarded with access to "Nickel" iconNickel, "Argon" iconArgon, "Copper" iconCopper, "Water" iconWater, "Chlorine" iconChlorine and the 3★ resource Ionic Liquids.

Scan a planet that has Nickel listed under resources and you’ll be able to then pinpoint where to find the resource (it’s the brown areas!).

If you have the "Scanning" iconScanning Skill, then you can find other ideal places to farm and set up outposts to get a constant supply of the resource. However, you can also harvest it by hand too using a "Cutter" iconCutter tool. If you are looking to automate your supply, once you’ve found an ore-rich area on a planet of your choosing, you can set up an Extractor to begin extracting Nickel. Head over to our detailed guide on ore extractors for more information!

Alternatively, if you don’t really fancy setting up a mining outpost, you could just purchase some Nickel instead. You’ll likely find it being sold at any "Trade Authority" iconTrade Authority Vendor, and the Jemison Mercantile shop in "New Atlantis" iconNew Atlantis and Midtown Minerals shop in Akila are also good spots to purchase for Nickel.

Midtown Minerals in Akila is a great shop for purchasing most ores!

What Can Nickel Be Used For?

Nickel is a very common material used in outpost building, research, weapon modifications and furniture building. Having a steady supply of the ore can be very useful if you’re interested in crafting the best weapons and having an advanced outpost. Below, we’ll list all uses of Nickel so you can plan ahead!

Starfield is an action role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios set in a futuristic interpretation of space exploration and colonization. Earth has long been abandoned, but there are plenty of other planets in different star systems where humans have ventured and settled. You have the freedom to create your own character with a unique background, but the main story will take you through a series of adventures as you uncover more information about mysterious artifacts which create gravitational anomalies. Along the way, you can build and customize your own space ship, establish your own outpost, befriend and romance new companions, and more. As a Bethesda game, you can also expect to see a lot of creative mods which have the potential to change your experience of the base game, or take it in an entirely new direction.
