Once you complete the events at Riville Prison Tower, Alphen and the party will plan to head for Menancia. You’ll need to pass through the Frozen Valley along the way to the Safar Sea Cave and as you reach a bridge leading to the cave itself, you’ll run into Gourdeno collapsed on the floor. Speaking with him, you’ll learn that he’s starving due to being out in the cold for so long and asks if you can find some Apples and Wheat for him so that he can make use of his new recipe.
If you’ve been diligent at gathering at the Collection Points, you should have both on you already. Apples can be found easily on the west side of the White Silver Plains or the Nevira Snowplains whereas you’ll find a Collection Point for Wheat in the Nevira Snowplains too (making this the ideal location to go to for these ingredients). Upon handing them over, Gourdeno will hand over the Apple Pie Recipe and sets off for a new place to seek out greater food, no doubt you’ll be seeing more of Gourdeno in your travels.
