All Mysterious Slate Recipes

In order to craft anything in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, you’re going to need a recipe. There are a variety of ways to get recipes in this game, but one method will have to wait until you clear the main story first. That’s because you will need "Mysterious Slate" iconMysterious Slates, an item that drops off of shadow monsters, but only after completing the game. Once you have a Mysterious Slate, you can turn them into "Edward" iconEdward at your base camp for a chance of gaining a recipe.

How to Get Mysterious Slates

As mentioned, you can’t get Mysterious Slates until you finish the main story. Once you have, speak with "Trip" iconTrip at your base camp and you’ll learn about the Slates, as well as "Dark Fire" iconDark Fires. Thankfully, both of the items drop from the same enemies, so you won’t have to farm another set of enemies to get them. At the beginning, you can go to Fort Gardhart to find a lot of shadow monsters, but the drop rate there doesn’t seem to be particularly high. It is much better to try and get a Monster House in a Treasure Grove, if you can.

(1 of 3) Monster Houses in Treasure Groves are the best way to farm Slates.

If you didn’t know, Monster Houses are one of the rare rooms that pop up whenever you plant a "Treasure Grove Sapling" iconTreasure Grove Sapling. The reason these are good is because when you enter that room, you’ll see nothing but shadow monsters. One big trick for these Monster Houses is to leave at least one enemy alive, then go to your in-game menu and select to quit the Treasure Grove (second page, in bottom right corner). It will say you failed, but you can go right back into the Grove, to the same room and all of the shadow enemies will respawn.

The difficulty of the enemy has no bearing on its drop rate, so you can try to find a Monster House in the lower tiers of a Grove. You’ll know a Slate drops, as the item bah will be glowing, so it’s easy to tell. Once you have enough, exit like mentioned above and turn in the Slates to Edward.

List of All Mysterious Slate Recipes

The following table is a list of every single recipe you can receive from Mysterious Slates. You can only do batches of ten at a time and you’re not always guaranteed that Edward will discover a new recipe. If he doesn’t find a new one, then you will receive some items instead, usually consumables of some kind. In other words, whether you get a new recipe or not is completely random.

Weapon/Tool Recipes

There are all of the recipes for Weapons and Life Tools. These are a special case, as you need recipes for each of the qualities listed below. So, as an example, you may discover a recipe for the "Arcanite Sword" iconArcanite Sword, but it might only be for the Supreme version. That means you won’t be able to craft the Notable and Legendary versions, as you still need to discover those, too.

Armor Recipes

These are all of the recipes for equipment in the Armor/Accessories slots. Unlike the weapons/tools, there is only a single recipe for each one.

Miscellaneous Recipes

These are the rest of the recipes that don’t fit in the two above categories, like a food item or a piece of furniture.

There is no indication that you have discovered all of the recipes in the game, so you’ll have to keep track of things yourself. Once you get to the last few recipes needed, you’re going to get a lot of “duplicates,” which can be frustrating.
