Magma Ore Locations

As you approach the endgame, you’ll find crafting recipes calling for rarer and more esoteric materials, many of which aren’t readily available at stores, even if you did have the funds for them. One of these materials is Magma Ore (used to craft Magma Ingots), and this page will discuss how to find and farm Magma Ore in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time!

Page Breakdown

You will need Magma Ore to craft Magma Ingots, a late-game material used to craft a variety of recipes.

Magma Ore Locations

Magma Ingots appear as required materials for 5-star (read: late-game) armors, including the Pegasus set and Inferno sets, requiring 10 and 7 of the ingots, respectively. You can also find them in recipes for 4-star shields, Life Tools and weapons, and there’s a good chance you may end up need twenty or more of the things by the time you’re ready to move onto the absolute top-tier legendary stuff, which means getting 60+ Magma Ore isn’t out of the question. You may find a few here or there through dumb luck or as rewards while clearing the Treasure Grove, but gathering Magma Ore in sufficient quantities will likely take some targeting farming.

Red Ore Deposits

Fortunately there are a few places in the game where you can find reasonable quantities of Magma Ore. Arguably your best option for finding sources of Magma Ore is finding Red Ore deposits, as they can drop - among other things - Magma Ore. You can find Red Ore deposits in the Depths - B2 and in the volcanic northern reaches of the Moltana Wastes, in Ginormosia.

You can also get Magma Ore as drops from Fortoise enemies, who also spawn in the Moltana Wastes once the Area Rank is 3+.

Fortoise Farming

If mining Red Ore isn’t appealing to you, you can also farm Fortoise enemies - lava turtles. These critters dwell in the volcanic northern reaches of the Moltana Wastes as well, but you must have Googlisha’s Tower set to Area Rank 3 or higher for them to spawn. Still, the combination of Fortoise enemies and the presence of Red Ore deposits makes the Moltana Wastes by far the best spot to farm Magma Ore.

Forging Magma Ingots

Getting a stockpile of Magma Ore is well more than half the battle, but it’s worth keeping in mind that even at Area Rank 1 the Red Ore deposits in the Moltana Wastes will still be Lv30+ on the low end. If you wish to raise the Area Rank to 3+ to spawn Fortoises, the level of these enemies and the Red Ore deposits will rise to around 45~. Simply put, you’re not getting your hands on Magma Ore easily at low levels. Not that it matters much, as you’ll need to rank up the Blacksmith Life to even unlock the recipe for Magma Ingots, which also has a recommended Smithing ability score of 460. Suffice to say, if your Miner and Blacksmith Lives aren’t up to snuff, you’re not going to be capable of doing much.
