As you explore the various locations in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, you will find strange objects. These objects appear to be NPCs that have been turned into random items, which stand out because they have eyes. These Strangelings can then be turned back into humans via the Goddess Statue at the base camp in the Present era, allowing you to unlock them as Buddies that can join your party as NPCs. This page will go over what Strangelings are, where to find them, and how to exactly turn them back to normal.

Strangelings are special items you can find to turn into Buddies that can join your party.

What Are Strangelings?

As mentioned above, Strangelings are NPCs that have been turned into objects and are hidden throughout the game’s world. There are a total of 49 Strangelings to be found, some of which you will get as you progress the main story. So, what do you do once you find a Strangeling? If you remember right, there is the Goddess Statue at the base camp in the Present era. Head there and interact with it, then use the Celestia’s Gift item (blue flowers that spawn once per day at base camp) to revert the Strangelings into Buddies.

Similar to pretty much every NPC in the game, these Buddies have a Life attached to them. You can bring up to three Buddies at a time with you, and they will level up as you normally do. If your Buddy is a gathering one, then they will join you when you are doing that activity (if they are the same Life). Similarly, you can assign like-minded Buddies when crafting, which can greatly help with succeeding. In fact, it’s probably best to wait on crafting until you have two Buddies related to that Life.

Where to Find Strangelings

Other than the few you can find during the main story, most other Strangelings will require you to hunt them down. While a good number are in Ginormosia, you can also find some in the other time periods. For example, the boss-tier enemies (ones with crowns) have a chance to drop a blue chest, which will always contain a Strangeling. After exhausting those, the chests will contain Celestia’s Gifts instead. Another way to get Strangelings is to simply find the Shrines in Ginormosia and complete them.

The last way to get Strangelings is by simply finding them in the world. Some might be simply laying about in a specific location, while others are in the blue chests, also just in a certain spot. There are also a few related to the various small villages, which you can unlock as fast travel points, in Ginormosia. With these, you will have some side quests and completing all of them will reward you with a Strangeling.

(1 of 4) Enemies with crowns over their heads can sometimes drop a Strangeling chest.

Little Brother Bust Location

Most of the above are self-explanatory, although there is one Shrine that is not marked on your map. It is found in Pettlewing Forest, a dungeon in the Pettlewing Woods region. When you get to the second half of the dungeon, you’ll find yourself in another area where you need to go the right direction. There are statues in the middle of these rooms, which point in a direction. Take the exit in that direction to arrive at Glehd Shrine. Note that there is also a legendary recipe behind the Shrine, for the Axe of Time.
