Best Perk Packages in MW2

By
Craig Robinson

Getting your hands on the best perks to complete your build in MW2 is a long grind. Lots of the good stuff is locked deeper into the progression tree. Until you start leveling up rank, you will need to use the best pre-made Perk Packages in MW2. This guide will help you determine which base perk packages are the best, along with the best custom perk packages in MW2.

Here is a closer look at the best Perk Packages in MW2.

Best Perk Packages in MW2

Here are the default perk packages, and what they are the best for.

Assault Perk
Basic Perk Overkill
Basic Perk 2 Scavenger
Bonus Perk Hardline
Ultimate Perk Quick Fix

The Assault perk package is the best perk package in MW2 for your general AR and Battle Rifle playstyles. It offers a overkill for a shotgun, especially while leveling assault rifles with none or limited attachments. It also offers Scavenger for ammo replenishment and Quick Fix for getting your Hp quicker after kills or objective control.

Phantom Perk
Basic Perk 1 Battle Hardened
Basic Perk 2 Double Time
Bonus Perk Cold Blooded
Ultimate Perk Ghost

The Assault perk package is the best perk package in MW2 for your general SMG playstyle. You get all the stealth options you need, all the movement speed you need, and even get access to the Battle Hardened to negate the flashbang meta.

Hunter Perk
Basic Perk 1 Strong Arm
Basic Perk 2 Tracker
Bonus Perk Spotter
Ultimate Perk Overclock

This is not so much great for regular multiplayer, but it works wonders for the Ground War and Invasions modes. You can use this with Recon Drone to scout areas. You also get crucial info for enemy movement with tracker, and can spot any rigger entrances to contested areas.

Dead Eye Perk
Basic Perk 1 Overkill
Basic Perk 2 Strong Arm
Bonus Perk Fast Hands
Ultimate Perk High Alert

The Dead Eye perk package is the best perk package in MW2 for your general Marksman rifle or shotgun players, especially those who one-shot. You get access to Fast Hands, which helps you reload your shells or sniper rounds. Most guns have one in a chamber and manual round insertion, which is really good. You also get High Alert, which is useful for knowing if you need to run or adjust your marksman or shotgun aiming. The Fast Hands perk also makes this the only viable LMG basic per package.

Support Perk
Basic Perk 1 Bomb Squad
Basic Perk 2 Battle Hardened
Bonus Perk Resupply
Ultimate Perk Survivor

This is a generally nice one if you’re angered by the grenade spam, especially if you’re an objective player on things like Hardpoint and Headquarters. It means you can tank flash grenades and explosives much easier and can hold down sites better. You also get resupply which is goof for chucking more f your own grenades at enemies.

Sniper Perk
Basic Perk 1 Double Time
Basic Perk 2 Extra Tactical
Bonus Perk Focus
Ultimate Perk Birds Eye

This one is designed for snipers, but it’s not too great. The only thing ideal about this is Focus, which reduces aim flinching. It’s key to making sure you land your sniper round, especially after an enemy shoots you at a distance to make your aim harder, or against ammunition moded with flinch.

Best Custom Perk Packages in MW2

Once you finally get round to unlocking great perks through your rank, these are the sort of custom perk packages you can expect.

Your two most common Basic Perks will be double time and either Battle Hardened or Bomb Squad. These are your tools for getting around the rather big multiplayer maps, and also handling the tactical meta.

The other option you will encounter is either the Scavenger, one of the grenade counters perks, or double-time combos. The Scavenger combos are good for those hunting for long kill streaks and getting your ammo back. Meanwhile, the double-time second perk is valid for those who run around the map and look for kills, while the grenade counter perks are good for those who play the objective.

As for your bonus perk, you will typically want Focus, or Fast Hands. Focus is good for stop weapon flinching, which is something that the pros like to take in their custom perk packages. On the other hand, Fast Hands is a great option for shotgun LMG, and Marksman rifle reloads.

Your ultimate perks are typically either Quick Fix or Ghost. Ghost is the best option for players who hate getting spotted by UAVs and lose, or for SMG players looking to sneak and flank. Meanwhile, Quick Fix is a great choice for players looking to even the odds if they get the first kill in a 1vX situation.

This about concludes the general theory of what makes the best perk packages in Modern Warfare 2.
