Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

TAQ-M Camo Challenges & Tips and Tricks For Completing Them

By
Craig Robinson

The TAQ-M is a marksman variation of the TAQ 56, aka the Scar L. This weapon comes packed with the standard two-shot kills DMR standard. The weapon is fairly good, and takes little time to level and unlock its challenges. However, some of these challenges are awful. To make life easier, we will take a look the TAQ-M camo challenges, showcasing tips, tricks, map strats and loadouts to make it easier.

Here is a look at the MW2 TAQ-M Camo Challenges, including tips on how to complete each one.

MW2 TAQ-M Camo Challenges Tips

Challenge Requirement Camo reward
Challenge 1 Get 50 kills with the TAQ-M Dead Hive
Challenge 2 Get 20 kills while mounted with the TAQ-M Forest Water
Challenge 3 Get 5 hipefire kills with the TAQ-M Skin and Scales
Challenge 4 Get 10 Double Kills with the TAQ-M Chemist Digital
Gold Challenge Get three kills without dying ten times Gold Camo
Platinum Challenge 25 longshots with the TAQ-M Platinum Camo
Polyatomic Challenge 25 headshots with the TAQ-M Polyatomic
Orion Challenge Complete 51 Polyatomic challenges Orion Camo

For the most part, the first two challenges are fairly easy to complete. The regular kills and the mounted kills will come naturally to players. You can use you mounted in all situations, whether thats mounted on a window you’re sniping from, or if you are covering an angle, or any other situation.

Meanwhile, the third challenge is where things get spicy. The five hip fire kills are somewhat tedious to get, since the gun is a two hit kill, and the hip fire accuracy is not great. You want to use this loadout, try to get hip fire kills within 10 meters, and ideally much closer than that:

  • Barrel: LR1:7 20.5“ Barrel
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
  • Laser: FTAC Grimline Laser

These three attachments are all about improving your hip fire accuracy primarily. It means your first shot will be pretty accurate, while the added recoil helps to minimize how wide the hip fire reticle goes. The result is that you make it easier for yourself to a degree. Now you can try and get those hip fire headshot kills, or close-range double-tap body kills. We also recommend running Extra Tactical in your perks and taking two flash bangs or stun grenades. This will help to close the gap for any kills you need to get close range, as this gun’s hip fire will likely lose a trade against any shotty, SMG, or AR weapon in close range otherwise.

Now for the last tip, you need to get double kills. The trick here is to go to Hardpoint, and fight for any contested objective. You’re likely to get double kill opportunities in this mode, thanks to the game naturally funneling players to certain areas of the map. It increases your chances of double kills, but all you need to do is pull the trigger and make sure you get them. Remember, you have a few seconds before the double kill timer runs out, so don’t fret about transferring your aim. With this done, you will have completed the base TAQ-M camo challenges

TAQ-M Gold Camo Challenge and Higher Mastery Level Challenges

Now you’re onto the TAQ-M Gold Camo Challenge, you need three kills without dying. You can do this by doing any of the following methods

  1. Going into Ground War and using the spotter scope to snipe enemy players.
  2. Go into Hardpoint or headquarters and look for kills against enemies playing near the objective or map funnel areas.
  3. Camp on game modes like Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed and wait for players to come to you while you have the scope in advantage.

Each of these methods presents ways to get thre kills without dying. You need to watch for other snipers, grenades and other things that can stop your momentum. But you can be on the way to TAQ-M gold camo in no time if you play it safe and smart. Pick whichever one you want to use and go from there.

TAQ-M Platinum Camo Challenge

As for the TAQ-M Platinum Camo Challenge, you now need to grab longshot kills. We recommend switching your loadout to have better range and bullet velocity, including the:

  • LR1:7 20.5“ Barrel
  • Muzzle: Polarfire-S or ZLR Talon
  • Optic of choice

The first two attachments are great picks for getting that needed range and velocity. It helps control the weapon for those long distance engagements. However, this is only really necessary in Ground War and Invasions maps, thanks to the easy sniper battles at 70+ meters. If you go for that gameplay, we recommend taking a decent magnified scope. Something of a 6x times nature will be sufficient.

Here is an example of a loadout you can use to get the longshot camo challenges done.

If you enjoy the 6v6 maps, then you can play the more ADS build, including the use of the

  • Barrel: 15.5 Theta-X13
  • Stock: TV Xline Pro
  • Rear Grip: Demo Cleanshot Grip
  • Optic: XTEN Angel-40
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper

This gives you decent ADS speed to react to gun fights while granting stable recoil to continue the distance taps. You also get the only holographic with a built-in range finder, making it easier to decide who you can fight for those 38-meter-long shot range fights. The best examples we are aware of on maps for long distance fights are as follows:

  • El Asilo, such as the rock near A on Domination, all the way over the car on the dirt road and beyond. The radio tower works too, if you cover the north direction, as does the building to the southwest side of the map overlooking the storage yard, and the swing dirt mound section.
  • The Raceway is good, especially if you can get prone on the fire engine and cover B site on Domination in front of the pit area of the map. The broadcast trucks side of the map works too, but they favor snipers a lot better.
  • Embassy, especially the tennis court and front gate area. You can also get a good prone spot on the roof area of rear gate, near the cafeteria roof. This allows you to cover the car park, with the 35-meter range being the gates to the main embassy building. You may need to stand further back to get long shot kills on the door, or look for snipers further away towards the rear car park to the default spawn area.
  • Taraq is also good if you’re covering north-to-south angles, especially the ruin area towards the building with the second-floor outdoor sniping area, which you can use to cover any objectives that go in that direction.
  • Hotel offers some good long-range angles near the Patio / Parking boost spot, overlooking the Chandelier hallway to the check-in room and vice versa.
  • Sena Border Crossing: The map has many long-distance angles, especially on the freeway area. Getting on one of the back buses or emergency vehicles and watching the middle area should count as long-range kills, as does climbing the burning bus and the fire engine in the middle of the map facing either side of the map.
  • Invasion modes: The Invasion maps have long-range areas, especially if you get elevated. Try these maps and get long-range kills, but just be wary of snipers getting long-range kills. You may need to put an optic onto your weapon if you go for invasion, as its easy to fight enemies around 70 meters and beyond.

TAQ-M Polyatomic Camo Challenge

Lately, we have the TAQ-M Polyatomic Camo Challenge, which requires players to get headshots. We recommend using the long-range or ADS build suggested in the Platinum section, and then getting an optic you like to use. From there, look for headshots. You can do this against snipers on Ground War by looking for stationary snipers for free headshots. Or, you can look for maps in 6v6 that have nice angles to measure heads at. These include looking for windows and the usual mounted spots on maps like Fortress, Raceway and Las Almas. You can also contend players at funnel areas, such as Hotel, and Farm 18’s doorways. Learn how to aim head height, where head height on certain cover spots are and have fun looking for those heads.
