The Chimera, aka the Honey Badger, is a brand new assault rifle, launching in Season 1 Reloaded patch. The devs have been rather generous with how you can unlock the Chimera in MW2, offering players two ways to unlock the Chimera.
How to unlock the Chimera in MW2
There are two ways to unlock the Chimera in MW2:
- The first is to extract with the weapon from Building 23 in DMZ.
- The second option is to get two operator kills in multiplayer with an assault rifle in 15 separate matches.
The DMZ option is done by getting a Building 21 keycard from the DMZ mode. Once you get a key, you need to extract with it and go to the new map in your DMZ map settings. Once the map is live, you can then get the weapon from that map. We are not sure how exactly, since the map is yet to go live.
So for now, the only guaranteed way to get the Chimera is to go into multiplayer (presuming you own MW2). The best trick to do this is to jump into any multiplayer game and get two Operator kills with an assault rifle of your choosing.
If you’re wondering what Operator kills means, it means to kill an enemy player. Operators are the name of the characters real humans play in multiplayer games. It means you cannot do this killing bots in Invasions or Spec Ops for example.
The best trick you can do to get through killing these 2 operators across 15 games is to join the current 24/7 mode of Shipment. Get your two kills in your game and back out. Then queue for another game and rinse and repeat. It’s rather tedious, but in reality, grabbing two kills with an assault rifle on Shipment, backing out and finding another game can take around a minute to two minutes. So, theoretically, you’ll unlock the chimera in around 20 minutes.
Good luck grinding your preferred or only method to unlock the Chimera in MW2!
