Warzone 2.0 New Features Overview

By
Paul McNally

We seem to have been waiting on Warzone 2.0 for what seems like an eternity, but that wait has not been in vain as Raven has been tweaking and adding in the background ready to release the future of its Battle Royale on a war-hungry gaming public.

With new features, and an engine that is widely tipped to be where Warzone will live for the foreseeable future, what we are set to witness at the start of Warzone 2.0 is where the evolution of this military BR will begin. But what’s new and what are we excited about most?

Warzone 2.0 Interrogation

There are many things we are looking forward to getting used to in Warzone 2.0, but the new Interrogation mechanic is one that has really caught our attention. After you down an enemy Operator you will need to make a split-second decision on whether to move on and continue with the battle or interrogate them for vital intel. Interrogating them will reveal enemy positions on your mini-map and give you a key strategical advantage over the enemy. It could also mean you get shot in the back of the head while you are messing about.

Interrogation might be the difference between winning or losing, just use it wisely.

This will mean you will need to add some tactical thought to how you operate and whether to risk everything for the sake of information. We can’t see us being tempted to interrogate in the middle of an open space, but if we take somebody down, and nobody else is around, well you bet they are getting shaken down for all they know. Sounds cool, doesn’t it?

Warzone 2.0 DMZ

We talk about the brand-new DMZ mode in a little more detail here but now we know more information about how loadouts and backpacks work in the mode. Your backpack will be the all-encompassing way to carry everything you find, weapons, ammo, loot, and cash, which you can spend in the Buy Stations.

DMZ could be set to be a Battle Royale phenomenon when it arrives in Warzone 2.0

Anything you decide you want to keep after searching falling Operators you will need to place in one of your backpacks slots, bringing a level of quick-thinking inventory management to your play style - after all, Warzone is not the type of game where you can stand around for a minute pondering whether you should keep the grenade or swap it out for a Shock Stick.

The DMZ is entered via randomized insertion points rather than dropping in from the skies. You can choose to go in as a squad or sneak in as a Lone Wolf. The choice is yours, but the rewards for success can be huge.

Warzone 2.0 Circle Collapse - How Does It Work?

We all know how the Circle/Storm or whatever works in Battle Royales by now. The ever-closing area of combat that gradually forces players together is present in Warzone 2.0 and will generally work as expected, however, things can occasionally be shaken up mid-game when the Circle collapses into multiple circles. In some games, there may by up to three separate circles at any one time and you could find yourself stuck in one.

Warzone 2.0 brings the interesting mechanic of multiple Circles, all closing in at once.

The cool thing here is you can fight between circles. Why not snipe an Operator fighting and worrying about a completely different Circle Collapse? You can even move between Circles if you are prepared to risk everything and make a break for it.

New Gulag rules

As ever in Warzone, getting killed for the first time sends you to the Gulag where you will find another three recently removed Operators and fight it out to that death to return to the game. New here to Warzone 2.0 however is The Jailer, who will also be there. The Jailer has more health than normal, but killing him will return all four Operators to the game, meaning teaming up on the Jailer may be the go-to tactic. Of course, if you are sly, like us, why not agree to team up on the Jailer and then quickly take out the other three guys while their minds are on the task at hand? Just saying.

Warzone 2.0 Download Size

It’s quickly become expected that Call of Duty games and Warzone are huge downloads that are going to take up a sizeable wedge of your hard drive space, especially if you are on a console. Warzone 2.0 will be no different unfortunately. Here are the sizes of the expected download.
