Where to Find Legendary Chests - Conan Exiles

By
Jessica Dillon

Legendary Chests used to be found in the open world, but after the Chapter 2 update, you have probably noticed that many of them have vanished. The chests haven’t been moved from the game. They just relocated to new areas. In addition, you will still need to fight world bosses for the keys to open them, which can make things even more confusing to players who don’t know about the move. The guide below goes over where to find Legendary Chests and the restrictions on Skeleton Key spawning.

Two Legendary Chests in The Dregs.

Where to Find Legendary Chest in Conan Exiles

Before the start of Chapter 2, Legendary Chest would spawn around bosses on the Exiled Lands map, making them easy to find. On Siptah, however, they would spawn in Elder Vaults. The system in the Exiled Lands has now been updated to be the same as the chest on the Isle of Siptah. These chests were locked, but by defeating the boss guarding it and looting its body, you could get the key. The chests contained a random assortment of goods but will give you Legendary-level items from its spawn list.

(1 of 3) You will need to kill bosses in the overworld and breakdown their bodies for Skeleton Keys.

The chests have now mostly disappeared from the world, with only a few exceptions, like the chest found in Skittering Cave. Now, Legendary Chests spawn at the ends of dungeons, and you can easily obtain them after defeating the boss. If you are looking for an easy dungeon to grind out, then try "The Dregs" iconThe Dregs. Three Legendary chests spawn in the drained pool after defeating the boss. Here are how many chests are in each dungeon to make things a bit easier.

Dungeon Location Legendary Chests
The Drags Boss Pool 3
Silver Mine End of The Mine 4
Temple of Frost One in Each Boss Room 2
"Midnight Grove" iconMidnight Grove Boss Room 3
Black Keep Boss Room 4
The Well of Skellos Throne Room 2
Sunken City Boss Room 6
Vine Cellar Boss Room 4
Warmaker Sanctuary Champions Arena 6

The only trick is that they are still locked, and you will need a "Skeleton" iconSkeleton Key to open them. Skeleton Keys are a bit hard to find now as they are dropped by bosses, but never by the one that you fight at the end of the dungeon. There are some dungeons with optional bosses aside from the main boss. These optional bosses have the ability to spawn Skeleton Keys when defeated. In short, you must grind out bosses in the overworld and then make your way to the end of dungeons to use your Skeleton Keys. This can be a time-consuming process as you may need to kill several world bosses before finding a Skeleton Key and break down their bodies with tools. Once you do have a Skeleton Key though, then you can unlock any Legendary Chest you come across.
