How to Farm Sundered Charms in Diablo 2 Resurrected

As mentioned earlier, Sundered Charms can only drop in Terror Zones, and since they have an iLv of 75, they’ll only drop on Hell difficulty. All that being the case, before you can even attempt to farm them you must meet the following conditions:

  • You must be currently playing in a Hell difficulty game
  • You must have defeated Baal in Hell difficulty with your character
  • You must have Terror Zones enabled

Meet these conditions and every hour a random zone (or several related areas, in some cases) will become Terrorized. Without getting into the details of Terror Zones too much, the monsters in Terror Zones scale to the player’s level and give you greater rewards when defeated. Enter any active Terror Zone and seek out Champion, Unique and Superunique monsters, as only these foes have a chance to drop Sundered Charms.

The drop rate for Sundered Charm is fairly decent - if you spend an hour hunting in a Terror Zone across multiple games, there’s a very good chance you’ll get at least one. As usual, however, some areas are more lucrative than others, and it’s all about kill rate. Travincal is probably the best area to farm, as there are three native Superuniques all clustered up - Geleb Flamefinger, Toorc Icefist and Ismail Vilehand. If you can kill them quickly and safely you can easily compelte a run in under a minute, and in this case you can easily haul in several Sundered Charms an hour. Alternatively the Catacombs is a fine spot to hunt, as Andariel has an elevated chance of dropping charms, and you’ll likely find several champion/unique packs en route to her.

Keep in mind that while the drop rate for Sundered Charms is surprisingly generous, there are six of them in the game, and their stats vary somewhat. Getting a Sundered Charm that sunders the exact element you want will take some time, especially if you want one that has better stats on it. Still, we ended up with over a dozen Sundered Charms in two days of moderate play, one of each type, including some pretty decent specimens, so they’re not all that hard to get. Even if you’re looking for a specific element with good stats, it’s much faster than getting the two Ber runes required to make Infinity!
