Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige’s Here

By
Nathan Garvin

Walkthrough for the Side Quest Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige’s Here!, including information on how to obtain every new card in the Skellige deck in The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine.

You can start this quest in a myriad of ways, and it typically begins along with its fellow Gwent-related Side Quest [Gwent: To Everything - Turn, Turn, Tournament!]. Grabbing the notice The Great Beauclair Gwent Tournament off nearly any notice board in Toussaint or winning a game of Gwent against any player in Toussaint should be sufficient to start these quests.

Once begun you’ll realize that these Side Quests are fairly intertwined, as Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige’s Here! basically tasks you with collecting all the cards in the Skellige deck, which you’ll need in order to participate in the tournament that makes up the substance of [Gwent: To Everything - Turn, Turn, Tournament!]. These wayward Gwent cards come from two sources; random Gwent-playing NPCs strewn throughout Toussaint (you’ll have to defeat 19 opponents to acquire all these Skellige cards) and a starter deck furnished by the tournament organizer, Count Monnier. This starter deck consists of around half of the total Skellige cards you can get.

Talk to Count Monnier in Beauclair to obtain a starter deck of Gwent cards.

Where to Find the Basic Skellige Deck in Gwent

The best way to start your Skellige Deck is to find the basic “starter” deck that contains fully half of the Skellige cards you can obtain. When you start the Gwent-related quests (see above) you’ll be tasked with meeting one Count Monnier, who is pushing the new Skellige deck and has set up the tournament which he wants to showcase said deck. Seek him out along the western end of Beauclair, he’ll be at an inn southwest of “The Gran Palace” signpost. When you find him, talk to him and after some chatter he’ll hand you the basic Skellige deck, which includes the following cards:

Birna Bran
Blueboy Lugos

Clan Brokvar Archer

Where to Find Gwent Skellige Cards in Toussaint

The starter deck was easy, but the rest of the cards in the Skellige deck are going to be much, much more work to obtain, as you’ll need to wander around Toussaint located all the Gwent-playing NPCs and defeating them in a game of Gwent. Fortunately these NPCs are all marked as long as you track the quest Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige’s Here!, so it shouldn’t be hard to find them. Also, most of them reside in Beauclair, which cuts down on the running about a bit, but there are a few stragglers in Francollarts, the Tourney Grounds, Castel Ravello Vineyard, Flovive and the Cockatrice Inn.

Below you’ll find a table listing the locations of the other 19 cards that make up the Skellige Deck in Blood and Wine:

You are Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster-hunter known as a Witcher. You’ve fully regained your memories since your miraculous revival and escape from the Wild Hunt, and have cleared your name of the false accusations of regicide. In the wake of the assassination of Foltest, king of Temeria, the north have been rent by warfare as Nilfgaard launches its third major invasion, and the northlands have been united under the insane king Radovid. Overshadowing these petty politics is the mysterious return of Ciri - Geralt’s adopted daughter, who is now being pursued by the Wild Hunt.
