The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Witcher 3: Viper School Gear Scavenger Hunt: Castle Ruins and Cemetery Locations

By
Craig Robinson

Players jumping into the start of a new save in the Witcher 3 can come across two decent new weapons via side missions. The side mission can start by naturally exploring or finding a note from a fallen Witcher you stumble across. No matter how you got it, we are here to help you complete the Viper School Scavenger Hunt quest in the Witcher 3.

Witcher 3 Viper Shcool Gear Scavenger Hunt: How to Start

Fight a Wraith in a cemetery before heading inside and getting a Diagram.

To start this quest, players can pick up two diagrams to kick-start the quest. Typically, you’ll find this in the cemetery near the Mill Signpost. You’ll know you’re there as Wraith vibing around the statue in the cemetery. As you get close, you issue a vibe check by making an appearance. Once it’s dealt with or disappears, head into the Cemetery, knock down a few walls with your signs, and enter the basement.

While exploring the area with your Witcher Senses, you’ll find a document detailing the story of a late Witcher, named Kolgrim. Not before another Wraith guards it at any rate. Slay the creature then check the books and bodies. Finding the book tells a tale of his death and the unfortunate circumstances surrounding it. While reading it, players will learn to follow the deceased Witcher’s trail, which will take you to the Witcher’s former weaponry in the White Orchard area. You will also acquire the Diagram: Serpentine Silver Sword, which starts the Viper School Gear Scavenger Hunt quest and completes the first half of it simultaneously.

Viper School Gear: Castle Ruins

Now it is time to get the other item and complete the quest. The location of the Steel Sword is inside the castle ruins, which is a stone ruin located atop a hill overlooking the Ransacked Village. There is a signpost you can fast-travel to if you’ve already been down there. If you don’t know where that is, it’s the village you the southeast coast in White Orchard.

Once you arrive, head to the village’s southwest exit near the bridge, cross it, then stand on the grass beside the nearest tree to your right. You will find part of the distant grass crosses over a ravine-like terrain feature and bring you a collapsed brick wall that slopes down from the castle’s foundation. Use this to climb onto the wall, and then into the castle. Inside are a few guards that you need to be wary of. They are nothing special, so feel free to sign and stab them however you see fit.

Now you’re inside the castle ruins. All you need to do is find the dense part of the tower and loot the chest in the corner. There are probably a few more baddies you need to stab, but that’s about in terms of resistance. Once you open the chest, you’ll find the diagram inside. Congratulations, you’ll have now completed the Viper School Gear Scavenger Hunt!
