Child of Helios

Paul McNally

Every now and then you are flying around space in No Man’s Sky and something will appear out of the blue.

Now while these events are obviously triggered by the game’s RNG, they are still pretty cool. So let’s have a look at something we have just encountered on our journey.

What is the Child of Helios in No Man’s Sky

When dropping out of Pulse Drive the Child of Helios will be floating in front of you.

The Child of Helios is a space encounter that will be triggered while you are using your Pulse Drive in a star system.

It has a very low rate of appearance, so be glad when you encounter it because it is a NMS rarity.

You will be told on your communicator that a rare deep space object has been discovered and you must slow down to investigate it.

Dropping out of Pulse Drive you will be faced with a large space jellyfish.

Approach the Jellyfish to begin the encounter. As you get closer the jellyfish will try to communicate with you and you should accept that communication.

The Child of Helios will express raw emotion during the encounter, for us, it was incredibly sad, and then as quickly as it began it was over and we were given the only option to Disconnect.

Resembling a translucent jellyfish, this rare encounter is a great NMS find.

Can you attack the Child of Helios?

Attacking the Child of Helios in No Man’s Sky has absolutely no effect, so don’t bother, just enjoy the tranquility of your meeting and be on your way.

Where can you find the Child of Helios?

The Child of Helios encounter can occur in any system and is classed as rare.
