At the beginning of The Frozen Wilds quest line, Burgrend mentions that he has a daughter and that you should meet with her some time. Well, she’s in Longnotch, so let’s go speak to Varga.
Varga is a weapons tinker and seems to admire the work you’ve done on your spear. But she wants to get her hands on some Banuk weapons that the shamans and chieftains of the Cut are always carrying around. In the dialogue wheel, you’re given three options for which new weapon you want to show her that you have obtained during your journey through the Cut. One option won’t rule out the others, so choose whichever you want first. For the purpose of this page of the guide, we chose the Stormslinger.
Warning: You can only access this part of the errand when you complete The Shaman’s Path quest and receive the Stormslinger weapon from Ourea.
Varga wants to make this weapon even better for you, but in order to do that she needs a Stormbird Talon. She won’t send you alone, though, like most other quest givers – no, she actually wants to go with you to get it. It means leaving the Cut altogether and heading back to a notorious Stormbird site out in the desert. So, it’s time to leave these snowy plains behind!
On the map you’ll see that the Stormbird site is near the Greatrun Hunting Grounds. You should have a nearby campfire site activated, so fast travel straight to the objective. Once you spawn, speak to Varga standing by the tree. A Stormbird is flying overhead, so initiate a fight and take it down. Once the machine is destroyed, loot it for the Stormbird Talon and return to Varga. She’ll take your Stormslinger and turn it into a legendary weapon.
Afterward, engage in conversation with her again to choose another weapon option from the dialogue wheel. This time, we picked the Icerail.
