How to Start Mainz Mountain Path Monster Extermination¶
Mainz Mountain Path Monster Extermination is a request that you can begin by examining the computer in the SSS HQ at the start of Chapter 3 Day 4. Unlike the Schwarze Auction Investigation Request, this one is entirely optional so it’s a good idea to focus on clearing it (and the other Requests) earlier in the day as once you get on the boat to Mishelam, you won’t be able to return.
As with most Monster Extermination Requests, there’s no client that you’ll need to speak to first before you can fight the target so once you have it from the computer, it’s time to set out for Mainz Mountain Path via Crossbell’s northern exit.

Once you find yourself on the Mainz Mountain Path, take the bus to Bus Stop (Doll Studio) and then go west at the intersection here to enter the tunnels. Once inside, continue heading north until you can go up the slope to the east, you’ll find the Grand Mole at the top. If you read the hints on the Request, you’ll know that you may wish to bring Poison protection into the battle.
The battle itself is against the Grand Mole and four Feathered Moles, that means you’ve got two targets to scan at the start of this battle. These moles will hit hard, and their regular attacks have a chance to inflict Poison too, if you’re not protected against it, be sure to use Antidotes right away.
Your first objective should be to get the Feathered Moles down, the Grand Mole will still summon more, but it’ll only be one instead of four which is much more manageable. The Feathered Moles are weak to Blind and Seal, so both Randy (Crash Bomb) and Lloyd’s (Brave Smash) are ideal to use so that they cause less mischief. Let them all come close and once they are, you can use Tio and Randy’s S-Breaks (after he’s used Crash Bomb) to hopefully whittle down the Feathered Moles.

As for the Grand Mole, it is weak to Fire, and to a lesser extent, Water so if your Tio has access to the higher level Water Arts (due to her having two forced Water slots in her Enigma) then be sure to use them against the Grand Mole, we had access to Genesis Flood at this point in the game and although it takes a while to cast (with a delay of 71 with Cast equipped), it can hit the Grand Mole for well over 1700 HP which is handy because the Grand Mole appears to have high physical defense.
Your reward for defeating the Grand Mole is an Attack 3 Quartz. Attack is always a useful Quartz, especially for Lloyd and Randy so be sure to equip it right away.
