How to Start Old Road Property Monster Extermination¶
Old Road Property Monster Extermination is a request that you can begin by examining the computer in the SSS HQ at the start of Chapter 2. In fact, you have to pick up this request before you leave the SSS HQ building, and at some point you’ll need to complete this request to advance the main questline. That being the case, we’ve saved it for the end of Chapter 2 Day 1, so make sure you’ve done everything you care to do before you begin this request.
To properly get this request started you’ll need to make your way back to Armorica Village, which can be found by taking the East Crossbell Highway and the Old Armorica Road. This trip will be much faster than the first one since the buses are working, and you can use them to fast travel if you’d rather bypass the low-level monsters prowling these roads. Then again, since you likely massively outlevel these monsters you can defeat them on the field without the tedium of a proper battle, just walk up to them and smash them - you’ll gain a trickle of Septih when you do this, but no item drops nor EXP.
Once you reach Armorica Village, head up to the Village Chief’s house (the northernmost house) and talk to the Chief Tolta to start this request, obtaining the Private Property Key at the end of your chat.

How to Complete Old Road Property Monster Extermination¶

Make your way back to the first screen of Old Armorica Road (the furthest away from Armorica Village - you can use a bus to get there faster if you wish) and examine the locked gate midway through the area. After some chatter you’ll get the door open, beyond which you’ll find the monsters who are nesting here - the elegant and not at all silly [Fartacus].
There are five groups of these monsters in this area, and they travel in groups of eight. While significantly stronger than the monsters native to the Old Armorica Road, they’re not all that dangerous on their own… but in groups of eight their damage output can become dangerous, especially if they inflict Faint. You’ll definitely want to ambush these enemies and with any luck you’ll be able to score a Team Rush, which will make these fights much, much easier. Failing that, using Randy’s Crash Bomb to Blind your foes will work wonders, as usual, and his S-Break can substitute for a Team Rush in a pinch.
Be sure to Analyze at least one of these enemies before you clear them all out, as they have a unique bestiary entry.

Once all five groups are smote, loot a chest in a shed to the southeast to obtain the Feather Tackle, a new fishing rod that allows you to use Roe and Red Flies as bait. Cross a bridge and loot a chest to the north to score a Teara Balm, then exit out the gates and when prompted return to Armorica Village to complete this request… after exchanging words with Chief Tolta, of course.
Before returning to Crossbell City, talk to Ange to obtain the Satisfying Carbonara recipe.
How to Find the Satisfying Carbonara Recipe¶
Now that this request is done your business in Armorica Village is done. Before you leave, however, enter a house along the western end of the village (next to Reoir General Store) and talk to the woman, Ange, to obtain the Satisfying Carbonara recipe.
With that done, all you need to do is make your way back to [Crossbell City] to report the completion of this request.
