How to Complete Missing Associate Professor

The urgent request for Day 1 of Chapter 3 will have you helping to track down a missing doctor from the St. Ursula Hospital. Start off by exiting Crossbell via the southern exit, then take a bus to the St. Ursula Hospital. Go into the hospital via the main entrance and speak with Receptionist Sera at the front desk. While the request sounded urgent, it seems Dr. Joachim Guenter, the one missing, has been going off on his own many times. Recently, the doctor has mentioned that he wanted to participate in the fishing tournament, so that’s a lead on his position.

(1 of 2) You’ll get a new fishing rod during the visit to the Fisherman’s Guild

You’ll get a new fishing rod during the visit to the Fisherman’s Guild (left), Take the bus to the Sandbar to find the tournament (right)

You don’t know where this tournament is being held, but decide to go to the Fisherman’s Guild on East Street in the city for a potential clue. Head there to see a cutscene, where you meet with Kopan, who mentions the Fisher Cup and that it’s on Ursula Road. Kopan will also give you a free Bamboo Rod, which will be the third rod you obtain in the game (more info on that later). With that out of the way, head back to Ursula Road and take the bus to the Fork (Sandbar) area. Approach the stairs just east of the bus stop for a quick scene.

Descend the stairs after it’s over and navigate your way towards the normal chest in the area, with the doctor standing right next to it. Speak with him for another scene, and it seems like he isn’t returning to the hospital any time soon. In fact, he asks you to do a battle with him, to see if you can fish up something bigger than the Viperhead he just caught. Of course, he has a few rules with this little contest, as once you’ve shown a fish, you cannot show another one. Also, you won’t be able to leave the sandbar, so whatever gear you have on you is what you will be using.

How to Catch a Catfish

With the information above, it’s time to do some fishing. Note that the fish you want to catch is a Catfish, as that will be a winner. If you already caught one prior to this request, then you can just show that and win, netting you the bonus DP without actually having to do anything extra. If not, then let’s do some things to set this all up. West of the monster chest is a blue-haired fellow, who will introduce himself as Lloyd. Speak to him twice and you will receive Earthworm x5 and Red Flies x5. The fishing for a Catfish will actually come in two parts here.

(1 of 4) The doctor will be by the normal chest

There will be a fishing spot right next to Lloyd, where you will want to use your Feather Tackle and Red Flies to score some Kasagin. It’s best to use all five of your bait to get a max of five Kasagin, as you might need all five. Once you have your Kasagin, save your game, then go to the east of the monster chest to find another fishing spot. Here, you will want to use the Novice Rod and the Kasagin you just caught, to try and fish up a Catfish. Now, there are some spoiler fish that might get in the way, like the Viperhead or Gluttonous Bass, so if you waste all your Kasagin, then reload and try again.

Upon finally getting a Catfish, look for the man with the brown hat right by the monster chest, and show him the fish. As long as you have a Catfish on hand, that is the one that will be chosen for this little contest. You will be declared the winner and Joachim will hand over a Celestial Balm as a little gift for winning. You will all return back to the hospital, with the quest ending there.

(1 of 4) Go to this fishing spot after you’ve gotten Kasagin

Before returning to the city, there is one thing to quickly do, which is take the bus back to Fork (Sandbar). Go down the stairs and speak with Peter, one of the fishermen, for Back Alley Doctor Glenn - Ch. 6. You can now go back to Crossbell City.

Returning to Crossbell City

Returning to the city and stepping foot in it will trigger a cutscene, where you receive a call about two gangs causing some trouble in the Harbor District. There will be a lengthy set of scenes here, setting up an impromptu race between your group, Wald/Wazy, and Joshua/Estelle. During the course of this race, you will be presented with three choices, and choosing the correct ones will give you some bonus DP as well as The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Screenshotx1 for each correct answer. The correct options are as follows:

  • Break through
  • Combo craft
  • Fight separately
Character Bond Event
The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Screenshot The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Screenshotx1 Pick the correct options during the race (The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Screenshotx1 per choice)

The Combo Craft learned during the race, Burning Rage, will be one you can use in battle. Like the others you’ve learned up to this point, it will require both Lloyd and Randy to have 100 CP each before they can unleash it in battle.

(1 of 2) The race will play itself out in a cutscene

The race will play itself out in a cutscene (left), Make sure you choose the right options when they pop up for bonus DP (right)

Watch the scenes following the race, where you get a potential new lead and the first day of the Festival closes.
