How to Get Ranged Weapons and Guns in Dead Island 2

By
Craig Robinson

Dead Island 2 drops the player off into a melee frenzy. As you play through the early game, all you will do is acquire improvised white-quality weapons, which normally consist of tools and rubble. But, as you progress, those weapons start getting better and better. But, some of us out here just want to use ranged weapons or guns to our advantage. So, if you’re wondering when you get ranged weapons and guns in Dead Island 2, just know it is about a third of the way through the game.

The Justified Zombicide mission will allow you to unlock guns in Dead Island 2.

How to get ranged weapons and guns in Dead Island 2

At the start of the game, you won’t have access to any ranged weapons or guns. You will, however, have an alt attack button, which you can use to throw your currently equipped weapon at an enemy. Different weapons will do different damage, with the likes of daggers being the best-thrown weapons from our experience.

Meanwhile, you will also get skills called Curveballs. As the game progresses, you will unlock various thrown weapons, such as shurikens, meat bait, pipe bombs, and Molotov cocktails. You will get these curveballs through the Bel Air, Hotel Halperin, Beverly Hills and Brentwood Sewers levels respectively. These are some of the early game maps you visit by level 11, which are all fairly early on in the main story.

But regarding actual ranged weapons and guns in Dead Island 2, these only begin to appear after a mission with Sam B. The mission in question is Justifiable Zombicide. Once you return from Monarch Studios, you must return to Beverly Hills and retrieve a gun shipment. You will break into a house and then acquire your first green quality rifle from the house on the wall. Here, you will get a tutorial on shooting the gun, along with getting ammunition so you can kill all the zombies that spawn for that shooting range tutorial. Once that is done, guns will then spawn in the game.

You can start looting guns from storage boxes in Fusebox rooms too.

From then on, you can find guns as part of the loot drops from Fusebox rooms, safes, and other disaster relief weapon drops. We managed to find a blue-quality shotgun designed for level 11’s. In one of the Fuse Boxes in Bel-Air, for example.

Moreso, you can also get a Nailgun, which you can buy from Carlos in Emma’s Bel-Air safe house. As you progress further through the game, you can also get pistols, and even more quality weapons. You can also get a pistol from the trader in Venice Beach. It is worth mentioning that ranged weapon blueprints will begin spawning around the maps of Dead Island 2 for you to loot as well once you have completed this mission.

And there you have it, you now know hot to get a gun in Dead Island 2. Good luck shooting those guns, maiming your more average zombies from afar.
