How to Find Fuses and Open Fusebox Doors

By
Nathan Garvin

Scattered throughout HELL-A you’ll find numerous sealed doors of various description, but the one thing they have in common is that the areas beyond have been rendered inaccessible due a missing Fuse. This page will discuss how to obtain Fuses, how to use them on Fuseboxes, and what treasure you can expect to score these hidden stockpiles in Dead Island 2.

(1 of 3) When you find Fuseboxes, you can be sure there’s a nearby door that the Fusebox will open.

What Are Fusebox Doors in Dead Island 2

Whenever you find a Fusebox, you can be certain that it serves to open a nearby door. Fortunately with Fusebox-sealed door, there’s really no puzzle element involved, the door a Fusebox services is fairly obvious, and there’s only one place to get Fuses, so you don’t need to waste time looking for those, either. Should you obtain a Fuse, just place it in the Fusebox and voila! - the sealed door will open. Beyond you’ll usually find a Zomproof Slayer Hoard chest, which will reward you with top-tier weaponry… for your level, anyways. Since the rewards you’ll gain from these caches scales like almost everything else, you may want to refrain from opening Fusebox doors until later, as you’ll end up with higher level - and potentially rarer - weapons if you do.

Where Can You Find Fuses in Dead Island 2

The only place you can obtain Fuses in Dead Island 2 is to buy them from merchants. The merchant doesn’t matter, all of them should sell two Fuses for $1,500 each. These aren’t limited items - every time the merchant restocks their store, they’ll sell more Fuses. Not that it matters, since you can’t carry very many at a time. Keep a few Fuses in your pocket at any given time and you’ll be able to open Fusebox doors as you come across them. This is a purely transactional interaction, basically allowing you to pay for access to loot… but it’s all in-game, so it’s fine. Just keep in mind that just because Fusebox doors are sealed doesn’t mean they’re safe - you’ll often find undead lurking beyond.

Zomproof Slayer Hoard chests do not respawn, but other loot found beyond Fusebox doors may.
