Dead Island 2

How to Beat Becki the Bride in Dead Island 2

By
Craig Robinson

As you explore Hotel Halperin, you will follow the trail of the Major, hunting her down to figure out what is going on, and so you can let the military know you’re immune. When you finally find a way to do that with the doctor on the radio, you are very quickly interrupted by "Becki the Bride" iconBecki the Bride, a giant angry Bride who just had her hotel marriage ruined by the apocalypse. This angry Bride is now coming to fight you and poses one of the game’s first major boss challenges. Here’s a closer look at the Becki the Bride fight in Dead Island 2.

!Becki the Bride is the first boss battle you face off against in Dead Island 2.

How to Beat Becki the Bride in Dead Island 2

The major thing you need to know is that Becki the Bride is a "Crusher" iconCrusher-type enemy. Crushers are the giga-chads of the zombie army, with high health, some pretty serious damage, and some ground-and-pound knockdown moves. Periodically, Crushers will slam their meaty arms into the floor, which will cause shockwaves to emit around their body, growing in size and distance. If you get hit by one of these, they will knock you down. So, to avoid it, simply jump over them, or out-range them when you recognize their knockdown slam animation.

As for their haymakers, their attack animations are rather slow, so we recommend using the "Dodge" iconDodge skill, and dashing the opposite direction of the way the arm comes. The Crusher models don’t mainly spin around too well, so you can easily dodge attacks that way.

Throughout the fight, the boss will naturally attract allies to her side, these are typically "Shambler" iconShamblers and "Walker" iconWalkers. At the early stages of the fights, these zombies are no threat to you, and you can normally get Becki the Bride to knock down her allies, so you can likely kill them just by getting Becki to knock down her Shambling allies. But, as the fight goes on, these will continue to stack up, so you may want to kill some occasionally just to make the floor space manageable.

Bring Becki to this power cable (see yellow arrow) if you want to apply Volt to her faster.

In addition, you will find a loose, broken power cable in the back left corner of the room (from the way you entered). You can direct Becki the Bride over and kite her around the wire to build up that volt status effect. When the volt is filled, you will stun her. Combine this with the tutorial machete you got from Sam B, and you can build the volt charge up faster for quicker stuns. (See image above)

Also, use your "Shuriken" iconShuriken Toss on cooldown, especially when you’re really close. This can deal around 250 damage per Shuriken hit, which greatly boosts damage. This is of course not including any critical hits you land with them.

If you find you need HP, there are several med packs around the edges of the room you can loot. There’s 4 different packs, so you should have more than enough opportunities to heal up if needed.

Now that you’ve beaten Becki, be aware that Crushers will now begin to spawn on all maps. This means you can now get the keys to the Military Supplies keys lockbox and more.
