Morthal may well be the most depressing town I’ve ever seen. It’s surrounded by marshes and swamps and the deathbell flower can be found in abundance… which only helps set the gloomy feeling in deeper. It is the hold capital of Hjallmarch and is run by Jarl Idgrod Ravencrone. There’s not a whole lot to do in Morthal other than shop at some shops and be depressed…

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTS

Bring one Song of the Alchemists to Lami

You get this quest by talking to Lami, owner of the Thaumaturgist’s Hut in Morthal. She will ask for the book “Song of the Alchemists” which is also a ALCHEMY SKILLBOOK. As far as I know, you can find it in either Anise’s Cabin (which is slightly SW of Riverwood) or the Bard’s College in Solitude. Return it to her and she’ll reward you by giving you a skill level in Alchemy.

Deliver Idgrod’s Note to Danica

You get this quest by talking to Igrod the Younger about Joric, causing her to ask you to take this note about his health to the priestess Danica at the temple to Kynareth in Whiterun. Simply fast travel there and deliver the letter. You’ll be rewarded 250 gold and you’ll be done. Quick and easy cash!

Kill the bandit leader located at Orotheim

You can get this quest by talking to the Moorside innkeeper, Jonna. She will say the Jarl’s men brought by the bounty letter. Orotheim is located to the southeast, just south of Robber’s Gorge up on the hillside. Just go inside the cave and slaughter everything inside. You’ll face 4-5 bandits and a leader. Be sure to loot the place after they are all dead. Return to Aslfur to claim your 100 gold reward.

Kill the bandit leader located at Robber’s Gorge

You can get this miscellaneous quest from the Jarl’s steward, Aslfur. Just tell him you are looking for work. Robber’s Gorge is to the south west of Morthal, so when you’re ready head on over there. Approaching from the northeast is incredibly useful as the bandits guard the road from the west with boulder traps. Keep your health up and beware of the leader and you’ll do ok. There’s an ARCHERY SKILLBOOK called “The Black Arrow, v2” by the leader’s hut as well. Return to Aslfur
