These guys sail the great seas of the Netherworlds. In addition to seeking treasure, Pirates plunder ports, and have been known to steal from the rich and give to the poor, depending on the flag that’s flying. They specialize in ranged weapons, looking for fire the first salvo.
To unlock the Pirate, you will need a Rank 3 Maid, Rank 2 Gunner, and a Rank 2 Archer. The Pirate is another class that excels at ranged combat, although it can use a variety of weapons well. Despite being proficient in swords, bows, axes and guns, you should probably stick to guns with this class, as their HIT and SPD are the highest stats and aptitudes. Guns will also complement their unique Evility, as the farther they are from the target, the more damage they will do. Outside of their ranged specialization, they have some common Evilities that greatly benefit your Item World travels, so you should definitely snag them for those excursions.
The Pirate’s unique Evility, Acceleration Shot, makes it so you deal more damage (15% per panel) the farther away you are from the target. This can be a great Evility for any gun or bow user, as well as a mage. Demonic Marksman increases both HIT and SPD aptitudes by 30%, which while nice, is nothing spectacular and nothing a few trips through Chara World won’t fix. Plunder gives you a 30% chance of acquiring equipment from enemy units. This can be a nice way to get some strong equipment later on, but using the Thief’s unique Evility to steal the equipment is much easier and more reliable.
Explorer is one of two Evilities the Pirate has that focuses on the Item World. This one will increase the chance of a Mystery Room appearing upon clearing a normal floor. Needless to say, this is invaluable and should be on a unit you’re using (or someone else), while going through the Item World, as Mystery Rooms are varied and very important. Gun Fight decreases the damage taken from units 3 or more panels away by 50%. If you’re fighting a lot of mages or ranged enemies, then this could be pretty nice, but there are better damage-reducing Evilities. Adventuring Spirit will give you an extra Item Level for every three levels you manually clear. This doesn’t stack, but it is very nice to get more extra levels.
