Sons of the Forest is the upcoming sequel to the Forest, Endnight’s hit survival game that defined the genre, and became the most iconic success of the Early Access project at the time. There’s lots of reasons to be hyped about the sequel, and all of the new features and changes. So much so, that console players, who got the original in 2018 want to play too. However, there is yet no confirmation that Sons of the Forest is coming to Xbox or PS5.
Is Sons of the Forest coming to Xbox or PS5? No, but it MIGHT do!
Throughout the many years of development, Endnight Games have spoke about their upcoming game with iconic Forest YouTubers. During these many talks from 202- now, the console case has been asked. Sadly, the console experience is not something Endnight is working on right now.
The case was first reported back in 2020, when popular Forest and survival YouTuber, Farkat asked the question. In response, the devs said “We haven’t announced any platforms other than PC yet.”
Few years later, Endnight spoke to the fan channel, Sons of the Forest Channel, about the console case in 2022, replying to their console question. The answer then changed to “Would love to release on console again, but are currently focused on the PC release and making that the best game it can be.”
At the moment, the Sons of the Forest release time is due to launch on PC on February 23, 2023. The game will launch into Early Access, and aims to last in that state for another 6-8 months. However, the game may leave Early Access whenever the developer can officially slap the 1.0 patch onto the live steam download servers. After that, we can follow up about the potential for Sons of the Forest Xbox and PS5 version, as well as the niche Sons of the Forest VR mode. But, until then, the console version of Sons of the Forest is still in limbo.
