Royal Ludroth

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

The Royal Ludroth is a Leviathan monster, which can be found in shallow waters and uses water based attacks and defenses.

The Royal Ludroth is a Leviathan monster.

The Royal Ludroth is found almost exclusively in aquatic environments, and you’ll likely first encounter one in Flooded Forest. It has empowered attacks when it is in the water, and whilst it is likely that you’ll spend most of the hunt in watery areas, it might be a good idea to draw him away from aquatic areas.

Attack Patterns

Water Projectile

During this attack, the Royal Ludroth will spit out balls of water and if you’re hit by them you’ll fall back and take damage. If hit, you’ll be inflicted with waterblight.

The Royal Ludroth will spit water balls from its mouth.

Roll

During this attack, the Royal Ludroth will roll sideways in an attempt to stop you from attacking its sides. The Royal Ludroth can also perform a charged variation of this attack in which he rolls in your direction.

Body Slam

The Royal Ludroth will lift up its head and upper body then bring it down to flatten you if you’re attack it from the front.

Watch out for the flattening move!

Head Swing

The Royal Ludroth will swing its head back and then to the side in an attempt to swipe at you if you’re attacking him from the front.

Tail Swing

A classic tail swipe move that will attempt to knock you away from its tail if you’re attacking it.

Strategy

The Royal Ludroth will regularly spit out water from its mouth, so you’ll probably want to spend more time to the side of the monster. However, you’ll need to find the right balance of avoiding its projectile attacks and also getting in some damage on its face, crest and mane which are weak parts. Its tail can also be severed so you’ll also want to make sure to damage the monster from behind as well.

Due to the Royal Ludroth being weaker to fire and thunder damage, equipping a weapon with these elemental effects would help you out in the fight. Armor with water resistance would also serve you well in this fight! Nulberries are also useful if you’re hit by his water attacks since they’ll negate the waterblight status affect.
