How to complete A Test of Courage¶
This page is a walkthrough for the Quest, A Test of Courage. It will navigate you through the necessary steps to successfully defeating Magnamalo and Zinogre.
The A Test of Courage Quest becomes available when you reach 6* Village Quests.

Magnamalo and Zinogre Location¶
Once you’ve accepted the quest, be sure to consume some delicious Bunny Dango and equip yourself with a Dragon based weapon before departing. You’ll be able to find Magnamalo and Zinogre in the following locations.

How to defeat Magnamalo and Zinogre¶
Magnamalo¶
Magnamalo is a Fanged Wyvern typed monster which was introduced in Monster Hunter Rise. This monster has a major weakness to Water. Magnamalo can expel a special type of gas, which it can ignite to create eerie, purple flames. If you come into contact with the purple fire–known as hellfire–you may become inflicted with hellfireblight.
This will cause you to explode after a set amount of time or after taking damage. For an in-depth strategy to tackling Magnamalo, refer to our separate Magnamalo page.
Head to one of the three locations to find Magnamalo and Zinogre roaming around.
Watch out for Magnamalos thunder attacks.
Zinogre¶
Zinogre is a Fanged Wyvern type monster which was introduced in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. This monster has a major weakness to Ice. Zinogre likes to call upon the elements and bring down lighting from the skies to defend itself. For an in-depth strategy to tackling Zinogre, refer to our separate Zinogre page.
Return to Kamura Village¶
Once you’ve defeated Magnamalo and Zinogre, return to Kamura Village and speak with Hinoa to bring this quest to a close.
