Monster Hunter Rise

How to Use the Long Sword

By
Shane Williams

Long Swords were introduced in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and are a melee weapon type that deals cut damage. They are favoured by players who prefer to deal a lot of damage slowly and carefully instead of the fast attacking weapons, such as Dual Blades. Long Swords also have good reach, so reaching certain parts of the Monster will be a lot easier with this weapon.

Press ZL + X to perform a Soaring Kick

Spirit Gauge

The Spirit Gauge can be found to the right of the Sharpness Gauge. In order to fill this gauge you’ll need to keep successfully hitting the enemy. Performing a variety of attacks, such as Spirit Roundslash will change the gauges color, increasing your attack power.

Basic Long Sword Controls

Below you’ll find the basic attacks you can use with the Long Sword. Once you’ve gotten these down, then you can move on combining them to deal more damage.

Silkbind Controls

Silkbind attacks use up a wirebug and then have a longer cooldown than wirebug moves, meaning you’ll want to make sure to time your silkbind attacks well so that you don’t waste the wirebug.
