Family Feud

How to Start Family Feud

This quest can be acquired from numerous NPCs throughout Calradia, both in villages and in larger settlements. The situation is this: a fight between the youths of two local families has resulted in the death of a young boy. His family want revenge in terms of blood spilt, and are refusing a blood payment instead. It is your task to convince them to accept the blood payment, thereby ending the feud.

Once you have spoken with the family member from whom you received the quest, check your quest log for an indication of where to find the young family member who is accused of the murder. The person will most likely be found in the same settlement that you accepted the quest from, so you can easily press [ALT] to see their indicator. Keep in mind that the individual you need to speak with won’t necessarily be marked by a quest icon.

Once you’ve found them, you’ll need to convince them to temporarily join your party and ride with you to the settlement where the other family is located. The location of this settlement will be detailed in the quest log, and will most likely be within a day or two of riding distance, so it is important to go there immediately. Once there, check your quest log to see who you need to speak with to negotiate the acceptance of the blood money.

(1 of 6) You can find the quest from any number of NPCs throughout Calradia.

How to Persuade the Family

When you’re speaking with the head of the aggressive family, you will need to convince them that their desire to take vengeance is foolish. For the best outcome, select the dialogue option ‘You’re breaking the law’. This will give you the opportunity to persuade the family that they’re doing the wrong thing. As with any negotiation, you will need to use your strengths in terms of your attributes and skills. Even if your chance of success is listed as low, there is still a chance that you can score a critical success and persuade the family.

If you fail the persuasion dialogue, you can reload the save and try to do it again. Otherwise, you will need to fight the family (3-6 individuals) and protect the young boy in the process. You should stay close to the young boy and attempt to shield him from incoming attacks. You will have at least one companion with you who can take the offensive approach while you defend. The fight shouldn’t be too difficult, so long as you keep the boy alive.

Whatever way you do it, once the dispute has been resolved the remaining family members will accept the offer of blood money. The quest will complete and the young boy will leave your party when you leave the settlement.
