This perk tree is ideal for those who want to specialise in horseback combat. It has the potential to improve your effectiveness against other cavalry with bonus damage to horses, increases couched lance damage in general, reduces couched cooldown, grants the ability to push back enemies upon hitting them, and improves speed with polearms. In addition you can provide a significant boost to troop morale at the beginning of battles. If preferred, you can specialise in polearms for combat on foot, but this would render couched bonuses useless.

Note: Each of the perks listed under a specific level are mutually exclusive. If you invest in one at a particular level, you will never be able to invest in the other at that same level.

Polearm Perks:

Skill Level 25:

  • Extra HP: +3% Hit Points

Skill Level 50:

  • Standard Bearer: +15% morale for troops at the start of battle

Skill Level 75:

  • Horse Killer: +70% damage to horses
  • +2% movement speed with polearms equipped

Skill Level 100:

  • Lancer: +30% damage with a couched lance

Skill Level 125:

  • Pushback: Enemies are pushed back after blocking polearms thrusts with shields

Skill Level 150:

  • Powerful Thrust: +2 thrust damage with polearms
  • Howling Swing: +2 swing damage with polearms

Skill Level 175:

  • Expert Infantry: +2 damage with polarms on foot
  • Expert Cavalry: +2 damage with polearms on horseback

Skill Level 200:

  • Rapid Lancer: Reduced cooldown for couched lance

Skill Level 225:

  • Keep At Bay: Successful hits push enemies back

Skill Level 250:

  • Slaughter: Faster swings with polearms

Skill Level 275:

  • Tight Grip: +30% additional damage with a couched lance

Tip: You can level the Polearm skill by using it in combat situations and in tournaments. An efficient way of increasing this skill involves goading a number of enemies into chasing you on the battlefield, and then utilising the superior length of polearms to slash through them as you kite, thereby maximising your hits.
