The Tactics perk tree is fairly simple, with only one point at which you will need to decide between two mutually exclusive perks. In this case, at level 150, you will need to decide between +50%% infantry damage against cavalry or +50% cavalry damage against archers in simulations. Choose the perk which most corresponds to your setup, and the buffs will take effect when you allow any battle to be simulated and resolved automatically. One of the most useful perks on this tree comes at level 75, granting you the ability to place troops in formation before a battle begins. This is a great way to experiment with different formations and become familiar with them.

Note: Each of the perks listed under a specific level are mutually exclusive. If you invest in one at a particular level, you will never be able to invest in the other at that same level.

Tactics Perks:

Skill Level 25:

  • Companion Cavalry: +10% enemy morale loss with cavalry attacks

Skill Level 50:

  • Tactical Superiority: +5% troop damage in simulations

Skill Level 75:

  • One Step Ahead: Grants ability to place all troops before battles

Skill Level 100:

  • Logistics: +20% ammunition for ranged units

Skill Level 125:

  • Ambush Specialist: +60% archer damage in simulation forest battles

Skill Level 150:

  • Phalanx: +50% infantry damage against cavalry in simulations
  • Hammer & Anvil: +50% cavalry damage against archers in simulations

Skill Level 175:

  • Elusive: -50% troops left behind when retreating

Skill Level 200:

  • Swift Regroup: -50% disorganised state duration

Skill Level 225:

  • Bait: +30% reinforcement distance for allies

Skill Level 250:

  • Trusted Commander: Reduced army cohesion decay

Skill Level 275:

  • Rational Leader: Reduced army supply consumption and time spent disorganised

Tip: You can level the Tactics skill each time you simulate a battle. This means choosing to send in your troops to fight the enemy rather than attacking on the battlefield yourself. You will sacrifice any combat experience for youself in this situation, but it can be worth doing in certain situations when you’re certain that you will win the battle.
