The Smithing perk tree is one of the most useful in terms of the dramatic ways in which it changes the process of crafting in Bannerlord. Most of the early perks allow you to refine materials more efficiently. This is particularly useful when you consider that refining materials provides the most amount of experience in exchange for stamina use. If you don’t mind the refinement process being more laborious than it needs to be, you can choose to dramatically increase the learning rate of new part designs instead. The higher level perks are focused on improving your stamina when smithing and your ability to craft better weapons.

Note: Each of the perks listed under a specific level are mutually exclusive. If you invest in one at a particular level, you will never be able to invest in the other at that same level.

Tip: The most efficient way of levelling Smithing involves continually refining materials such as hardwood, charcoal, iron ore, crude iron, wrought iron, and iron bars. This will provide you with the most amount of experience before you need to rest in order to recover your stamina. You can also take any weapons that you recover from the battlefield to smelt down, earning you experience while providing you with more materials.
