Best Clan Role Attributes & Skills

As with caravan leaders, choosing the right companion for a specific clan role is fairly simple. There are four clan roles, as follows:

  • Scout
  • Quartermaster
  • Engineer
  • Surgeon

The easiest way to choose an appropriate companion for each of the above clan roles is to check the companion attributes and skills. The scout and engineer roles are best suited to those companions who have a high base level of Scouting and Engineer. This much seems obvious, but you should also develop the base attributes associated with the skills to make the most of their value. We’ve simplified these in the table below.

Clan Role Beneficial Attributes & Skills
Scout Cunning (attribute), Scouting (skill)
Quartermaster Intelligence (attribute), Steward (skill)
Engineer Intelligence (attribute), Engineer (skill)
Surgeon Intelligence (attribute), Medicine (skill)

Following the logic set out above, the best companions for each role can be determined based on how high their attribute and skill levels are in relation to what the role requires of them. Just make sure you match the skills of the companion to the role, and you’ll begin to see benefits related to it. For example, a companion with high medicine skill will reduce the chances of injury and increase the rate of recovery for your army, so long as they’re assigned to the surgeon role. If they’re not assigned, the benefits from their skills won’t apply.
