How to Break the AP Limit in Crisis Core Reunion

By
Matt Chard

Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion has a wealth of customization opportunities and with it, ways to really make Zack powerful. At a certain point, you may think that 999 AP isn’t enough and want to learn how to Break the AP Limit.

The Black Cowl accessory will break the AP limit allowing you to reach 9,999 AP.

Where to Get the Black Cowl Accessory

First things first, if you’re not sure what AP is used for, check out our Stat Explanation page. The short of it is AP is used for performing special attacks skills under Command Materia. The initial limit is 999, but with the "Black Cowl" iconBlack Cowl, the limit can be raised to 9,999. There are a few methods to obtaining the accessory.

First is to complete mission 7-3-1: P’s Precognition Lv. 1 which can be started as early as Chapter 4 when you unlock mission 7-2-1: Search and Destroy. Complete that first, and the subsequent missions after it until mission 7-3-1 is unlocked. This is a 5-Star difficulty mission, so you shouldn’t have too much of a problem completing it.

You can steal Black Cowls from Diatryma in mission 9-6-4. Be aware that these enemies are pretty strong, and can stun you.

The next way to obtain it is from a Treasure Chest in missions 2-5-5 and 9-3-3. The former isn’t available until Chapter 10 while the latter can be unlocked in Chapter 3, but it will require you completing a long series of difficult missions to reach it. Finally, you can steal the accessory. It is a rare steal from the "Diatryma" iconDiatryma. Equip the "Mog's Amulet" iconMog’s Amulet, and "Brigand's Gloves" iconBrigand’s Gloves to guarantee a rare steal and head over to mission 9-6-4 for the Diatryma. Once again, this is available during Chapter 3, but you will have to complete a long series of difficult missions.

Where to Get the Divine Slayer and Heike Soul

Realistically, you’re going to want to use the Black Cowl. Both of these incredible Accessories break the AP Limit among many other powerful buffs, but by the time you get them, their purpose is almost useless unless you want to trounce everything on a New Game+.

The "Divine Slayer" iconDivine Slayer, then, comes from defeating "Minerva" iconMinerva in mission 9-6-6. Minerva is the game’s superboss and possibly one of the last things you’ll do in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion. You’ll also need to have near max stats to take her on in the first place. Still, the Divine Slayer offers HP, MP, and AP +100%, ATK, VIT, MAG, SPR and LCK +50. It also breaks all attack, HP, MP, and AP limits while granting the "Libra" iconLibra effect. Needless to say, it’s very powerful indeed.

"Heike Soul" iconHeike Soul, however, one-ups that even further with even more boons piled on top. Once again though, it’s useless by the time you obtain it as you’ll need to complete 100% of the Missions in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion. Yes, that includes defeating Minerva herself in mission 9-6-6.

There is no comparison as an Accessory though, as the Heike Soul grants the effects of the following items/Materia: “"Adaman Bangle" iconAdaman Bangle”, “"Brutal" iconBrutal” , “Black Cowl”, “"Gold Hairpin" iconGold Hairpin”, “"Wizard Bracelet" iconWizard Bracelet”, “"Doc's Code" iconDoc’s Code”, “Brigand’s Gloves”, “Mog’s "Amulet" iconAmulet”, “"Jeweled Ring" iconJeweled Ring”, “"Precious Watch" iconPrecious Watch”, “Libra”, “"Smart Consumer" iconSmart Consumer”, “"SP Master" iconSP Master”, “"Dualcast" iconDualcast”, and the “"Cursed Ring" iconCursed Ring”. Overkill, we know!

Where to Get Laurel Crown, Black Garb and Genji Helm

These three accessories won’t break the AP limit, but they will make every AP skill cost zero AP. The "Genji Helm" iconGenji Helm is the better out of the three as that will also make magic cost zero MP too, but that is a little harder to get.

For the "Laurel Crown" iconLaurel Crown, you can also find it in a Treasure chest in mission 9-6-2. The "Black Garb" iconBlack Garb can be found inside a Treasure chest during mission 9-4-4 or as a rare steal from Mock Trooper A’s in mission 9-6-5.

(1 of 3) The Laurel Crown can be found in a Treasure chest in mission 9-6-2.

The Genji Helm requires a bit more work mainly due to its exorbitant cost of 1,000,000 Gil from "Online Shop Shade" iconOnline Shop Shade. First you’ll need to unlock the shop, to do this you’ll need to complete mission 9-5-4 which can be unlocked during Chapter 3. If you want to know the best way of farming Gil for this, follow our page here. You can also find our in-depth guide for the Genji equipment here.
