Dweller of Strife Boss Guide - Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

You will face a lot of tough enemies in Sea of Stars, including many bosses throughout your adventure. Some bosses, though, are built a little differently, like the Dwellers. The Dweller of Strife will be fought during your excursion at the Clockwork Castle. Compared to the other Dweller fights thus far, this one is a little easier, although you do need to watch out for its one move. This page will go over all of the Dweller of Strife’s attacks, as well as give tips and tricks on how to defeat it.

The Dweller of Strife is a bit of a gimmick boss battle.

How to Beat the Dweller of Strife in Sea of Stars

You will find that the Dweller of Strife is a little bit like a gimmick fight, as you aren’t technically going to be applying direct damage to it. Note that Resh’an will be sitting out during the fight, so you will only have the other four party members. If you recall the other two Dweller fights, you will know that Zale and Valere are the stars here, due to their powers. However, don’t forget that both Serai and Garl will be providing support.

All of Dweller of Strife’s Attacks in Sea of Stars

The Dweller of Strife doesn’t have a whole lot of attacks, but one of them is quite painful, so you will need to keep an eye out for that.

  • Laser Beam: This is the Dweller of Strife’s normal attack, where it’ll find a piddly little beam directly at a single character. It only does around 20-25 damage, so it’s probably the attack you want to see the most.

  • Crash: This is the other special attack, featuring 4 Locks. The Dweller of Strife will fly into the air, then come crashing down like a flaming meteorite, causing a fiery shockwave to hit all characters. It does around 25-30 damage.

(1 of 3) The basic beam attack doesn’t really do all that much damage.

  • Eye Beam: The most dangerous attack is definitely this one, consisting of 5 Locks. This attack will do over 100+ damage to a single character, which might actually KO them. There are multiple hits here, so you will need to do multiple timed blocks.

Strategy for the Dweller of Strife Boss in Sea of Stars

When you begin the battle against the Dweller of Strife, you will know that both Zale and Valere will be your key players. The only problem is that their magic and boosted attacks will deal very little damage. This battle has a bit of a gimmick, as your characters won’t be doing much damage at all to the boss. You will still be doing your usual here, though, but the energy from Zale and Valere’s attacks will instead be going to the device behind you. Once the device has accumulated enough energy, it will unleash it, as Eclipse Energy, and deal major damage to the boss.

That’s pretty much the entire fight right there. Note that even Lunar Shield and Healing Light will contribute energy to the device. The only attack you really need to watch out for is Eye Beam, as its damage is quite big, dealing over 100+ damage to a single character. Another problem here is that you will likely only have one turn before it uses this move, which means that you want to bring in Serai to use Disorient to delay the attack. This will give you ample time to break all of the locks.

(1 of 4) Zale and Valere’s attacks (skills and boosted) will contribute energy to the device.

Outside of that, just have Serai use normal attacks, bringing in Garl to do some healing with Nourish. You probably only really need to use a single Live Mana for the boosted normal attacks for Zale and Valere, since your own damage isn’t really a factor here.

After defeating the Dweller of Strife here, some things will happen and you will regain control down below. Head to the right and you’ll see your partner there, and you’ll challenge the Dweller with just the two of you. Thankfully, you don’t have to actually win here, since it’s pretty much impossible. You just need to survive a few rounds, until a scene takes over here. There will be plenty of scenes that follow, with the next stop being the Cloud Kingdom.
