Sea of Stars

Where to Find the Western Island Solstice Shrine - Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

You will come across a Solstice Shrine relatively early in your adventure in Sea of Stars, but you won’t be able to do anything about it until a little later. There will be five of these Solstice Shrines, which contain a puzzle that will usually yield a piece of equipment, or skill, for one of the two main characters. This page will focus on the Solstice Shrine you find on an island in the western portion of the Home World map.

Where to Find the Western Island Solstice Shrine

(1 of 2) The location of the Western Solstice Shrine, on the world map.

The location of the Western Solstice Shrine, on the world map. (left), You can only reach it by flying to it. (right)

Similar to the Solstice Shrine found on the northeastern island, you will likely have seen this one while sailing around the world map. However, it’s on an island without a dock, so there wasn’t a way to access it. Very late in the main story, right when the final dungeon is accessible, you will gain the ability to fly. This will allow you to gain entry to many new places you otherwise couldn’t go, like the western island with the Solstice Shrine. It’s located between Sleeper Island (one with Brisk) and Evermist Island (one with Mooncradle).

How to Solve the Western Island Solstice Shrine Puzzle

There will be a Solstice Puzzle at the entrance, where you need to light all four runes, as with most of those kinds of puzzles. Start with the moon one on either side, then work your way across to the other moon one, stopping at the two suns. The moon ones disappear a lot more slowly, and they are longer, so start with those. Once you light all of the runes, you will be able to enter the actual shrine.

(1 of 3) The crystals do nothing but give off some light when you interact with them.

When you enter the shrine, you will see a large platform that has all kinds of arrows on it. First thing, though, is to hit the button right in front of you, which will move the large platform to you. This is a fairly easy shrine, once you realize what you need to do. Each tile on the large platform will move it in the direction of the arrow by one space. You will only be able to step on each tile once, just for making the platform move. If you accidentally step on the wrong arrow, you can simply jump off the platform to appear back at the beginning, where you can hit the initial button to respawn the platform.

The goal of this shrine is to hit two buttons on the sides, then make it to the top to get the chest. The arrows on the platform don’t get reset, either, when stepping off to hit the buttons. You can follow these steps to solve this shrine.

(1 of 3) Take this path to reach the first button.

  • Step on the bottom corner to start
  • Move up, right, down, and right (on the platform)
  • Step off the platform and hit the button
  • Step on the right corner of the platform
  • Move up, left, up, left, and left (on the platform)
  • Step off to hit the second button
  • Step back onto the platform
  • Move right, right, right, and down (on the platform)

That will put you right at the end, where you can hop off the platform and open the chest for an Eclipse Armor. This is the best armor for Zale and Valere, so equip it to one of the two (there is another out there, so don’t worry).
