Where to Find the Evermist Island Solstice Shrine in Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Something you might stumble across early on in your adventure, in Sea of Stars, is a Solstice Shrine. The first one is found on Evermist Island, but you can’t go inside it, so you chose to ignore it to return to it later. It isn’t until later in the game that you will be able to open it, so let’s take a look at how to reach it and solve the puzzle inside it.

The puzzle in the Solstice Shrine will have you pushing a specific block onto the purple tile.

How to Open the Evermist Island Solstice Shrine

You likely already know where this Solstice Shrine is found, but if you don’t, then read on from here. After you make it through the Forbidden Cavern, you will be in a little area of the world map, where you see three locations. To the left will be Sunglow Lake, a fishing spot, and towards the center is the entrance to the Mountain Trail. Just to the right of the Mountain Trail is the Solstice Shrine, but you won’t be able to do anything about it when you’re in the region for the first time.

It isn’t until much later that you can come back here and do the shrine’s puzzle. After the events on Wraith Island, you will have to go and do the whole thing surrounding The Vespertine. This will net you a boat, allowing you to explore the actual world map, or at least get to places. Once you do that, you will need to go back to Brisk and then sail to an island in the northeastern part of the ocean. The events here will establish a new town, called Mirth. When all is said and done, Headmaster Moraine will meet you and give you the Evermist Shrine Key.

(1 of 5) You will need the key from Headmaster Moraine.

Of course, that’s just one piece of the puzzle, as if you sail to Evermist Island, you will notice that you can’t dock the boat there. Well, it’s time to do a little backtracking now. Venture back to Brisk and return to Coral Cascades, making your way back up the place and reaching Stonemasons Outpost. From there, you can go to X’tol’s Landing and use the creature at the top to get flung back to Evermist Island. Note that there is a hole-shaped thing on the ground, on the world map, that allows you to skip going through the Mountain Trail, putting you right in the vicinity of the Solstice Shrine.

How to Solve the Puzzle at Evermist Island Solstice Shrine

When you enter the Solstice Shrine on Evermist Island, you will see the camera pan to the mural at the northern end. This is actually the clue you need to solve the puzzle, which just involves pushing the purple-blue block a certain way. Basically, the purple squares on the mural are the only spots where the colored block can go. The reason for this is that the normal blocks cannot go on the outer ring, so if the colored block went there, it would hit the outer ring and despawn.

So, the idea is to use the normal blocks as a barrier, so the colored one doesn’t hit the outside ring and despawn. So, with that out of the way, let’s follow a step-by-step guide on how to solve the puzzle here.

(1 of 5) The first step for moving the purple block.

  • Push top normal block to the right
  • Push other normal block right, then up
  • Push colored block up
  • Push both normal blocks to the left, then down
  • Push colored block left
  • Push bottom normal block to the right, up, then left (top left corner)
  • Push other normal block up, right, up, and left
  • Push colored block up
  • Push top-left corner normal block down
  • Push other normal block right
  • Push first normal block right, then up
  • Push colored block right, then up to finish

Once you get the colored block onto the purple tile, the mural will move and reveal a huge chest. Open this chest to learn the Combo Skill, Soonrang, which is for Zale and Valere. It costs two Combo points and utilizes both Moon and Sun energy, which is great if you have Locks with those two elements. You will also see a scene with the one door on the Mountain Trail, with one of the lights going out on it.
