Sea of Stars

Trophy and Achievement Roadmap in Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Sea of Stars is a classic-inspired Japanese RPG, taking homage from such iconic games, as Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger. It features a full list of trophies and achievements, and one of the best things about the game is that nothing is missable. It is possible to get all of them on a single playthrough, although it’s very wise to leave one of the trophies/achievements for a New Game+ playthrough. Since nothing is missable, there’s really not too much to talk about here.

There’s a lot to do in order to get all of the trophies and achievements.

Step 1 - Play through the game

As mentioned above, nothing is missable in the game, so you don’t need to fret about actually following a guide while playing. That means you can enjoy the game’s story and content on your own, then come back to the guide to clean up. However, it is wise to actually try to get as many treasure chests and Rainbow Conches as you play, as this makes the post-story clean up much easier.

Step 2 - Post-Story Clean Up

Once you reach the final dungeon, you will unlock a bunch of side quests. These will offer some challenges on their own, with a few of the bosses being quite tricky to beat. Upon doing those, which will net you a few of the virtual trinkets, you can go through the final dungeon and beat the main story. After the very long credits finish rolling, you will see that there is more to the game.

That’s because Sea of Stars has a True Ending and depending on how much you did prior to the final dungeon, you might be done with most of the True Ending requirements. Refer to the How to Unlock the True Ending page for more info on everything. There will be some more things to do here, though, including a little bit of extra story. You can also challenge the True Ending final boss, at the end of the final story dungeon, who will be different and can be quite the challenge.

Getting all of the chests will be one of the longer challenges (left), as will finding all 60 Rainbow Conches. (right)

Step 3 - Artful Gambit New Game+ Run

There is one trophy/achievement that is possible to get on your first playthrough, but is better off saved for a New Game+ playthrough. In fact, if you’ve gotten every other trophy/achievement in the game, you don’t even have to play a full playthrough on NG+. While going for The Queen That Was boss, you will loot a Relic called the Artful Gambit. This is the ultimate challenge Relic in the game, as it reduces your HP by a lot, and makes enemies impervious to damage when they are preparing a skill (with the Locks).

However, all of your timed hits will deal double damage and should you successfully perform a timed block, then that will be reduced to a single point of damage. The goal is to defeat 10 bosses while this Relic is activated. Note that there are some bosses that don’t seem to count towards this trophy/achievement, for whatever reason. If you’re doing this from a fresh New Game+ playthrough, then you will unlock it upon defeating the Leaf Monster boss in the Autumn Hills. Also, you can deactivate the Relic in between bosses, to make things easier on yourself.
