Best Ways to Farm Money in Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Money is usually always a valuable resource in games, but it’s even more valuable in Sea of Stars. Enemies in Sea of Stars don’t usually drop Gold, and even if they do, it’s a minute amount that isn’t worth it. This makes things a little complicated during your playthrough, as you do need it to purchase equipment and some other items from shops. This page will talk about all of the ways you can earn money in Sea of Stars.

Some items cost a lot of gold, so you will need some ways to make money.

Best Ways to Farm Gold in Sea of Stars

You will need a lot of money in the game to do certain things, like purchase equipment, accessories and Relics. There is one pretty good accessory, for example, that costs 888 Gold, so some things can be pretty pricey. If you wish to go for all of the trophies/achievements, then you will need even more Gold, so here are some of the best ways to get money in the game.

Sell Valuable Gems

There exists a whole selection of items in the game that is meant to be sold. These are found under the Gem category in your inventory. As an example, one of the first you will come across in your adventure is a chest in the Moorlands, which contains x4 Teal Amber Ore. These ore and ingots exist solely to be sold for gold, and nothing else. These will usually help in keeping your characters properly equipped throughout the game, but it does bring up the next point…

Sell Old Equipment

Once you have replaced a piece of equipment for a character, there is no reason to keep the older equipment. You won’t find any mechanics in the game that lets you reuse older equipment in order to make new ones, so there is absolutely no reason to keep it. Sure, you’re not going to get a lot of gold from reselling your out-of-date items, but every little bit helps. This can also tie into the next idea.

Open Every Chest

You will be visiting a lot of different places in your journey and will undoubtedly come across many chests. Some chests are quite hidden, too, so fully exploring all of these places will net you a lot of items. You can sometimes come across stronger equipment by simply finding chests, which will help you in saving money, too. If you come across something that you can’t use, then you can sell it for money.

Do the Quiz Master

One of the side quests in the game involves an entity known as the Quiz Master. This NPC is literally as his name implies, as he will ask you a series of questions about the game, and if you pass his challenges, then you will be rewarded with gems that you can sell for money. However, you don’t have access to all of his questions right away, as you need to find Question Packs throughout the game’s world first, so you will need to be on the lookout for them. Each Question Pack will give you access to two different tiers of questions (don’t worry, they reuse the same ones across both tiers), so you get two rewards from each one.

Sell Food Ingredients

First and foremost, selling the recipes you unlock as you progress is not a good way to make money. None of them usually sell for that much and the number of ingredients used in making them kind of offsets that. You can also only carry 10 meals at a time, with no way to increase that, so that kind of limits the potential of selling meals for profit. As an example, the Gourmet Burger recipe can be sold for 20 Gold, but the ingredients to make it can be sold for 14 Gold. Sure, it’s a 6 Gold profit for doing the burger, but you’d have to make it first.

(1 of 2) Mirth is a great place to stock on ingredients to sell

Once you make it far enough into the game, you have a few amazing sources for ingredients, too. The village of Mirth is one great source, with there being a field that has all kinds of items. Another great source if the Clockwork Castle, which has an abundant of ingredients for you to loot. Even later, the Secret Oasis in the Cerulean Expanse has a good amount of ingredients you can find. Grains, for example, sell for two Gold each and you get an abundance of them from the above spots.

In fact, once all three places are unlocked, you can do a continuous loop between all three, with no waiting at all for the items to regrow.
