Rainbow Mines

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Before heading inside of the mines, you’ll be able to snag a Medicinal Herb from one of the barrels outside of the little shack there. There’s nothing else outside, so go on inside and you’ll spot a path shooting off to the east, with some stairs. These stairs lead to a small room with nothing in it, so ignore that eastern path and head north to find Maeve again. After she goes away again, continue north and to the northwest corner to find 40 gold coins in one of the barrels there.

The only other option right now, after collecting the money, is the stairs in the northeast corner. On the second floor, there is absolutely no loot at all, so just run to the southeast corner to find the stairs to the third floor, where you’ll encounter the first puzzle. There are all sorts of colored gems here and you’re able to only push them. Whenever they connect with another of the same color, the two gems will shatter and disappear, allowing you to continue.

Push the yellow one on the bottom to the left, then the blue one to the north to be able to access the western side of the map. On the next floor, ignore the gems and just run to the end of the path to find the stairs to the fifth floor. Yep, you’ll find another puzzle here, which is a bit more complicated than the previous one. First and foremost, ignore the red gem in the bottom right, as using it will require you to reset the puzzle by going back to the previous floor.

Push the colored gems into one of the same color to make them shatter and disappear.

To start the puzzle, push the blue one to the left, then do the same with the second red one (the one on top). From here, you can connect the yellow gems and finally push the first red gem all the way to the left to free the stairs. This next puzzle is a little bigger than the other ones, but it’s still simple, so start by pushing the blue one to the left. After doing that, pushing the middle red one to the left and return to the middle and pushing the top one to the north.

From here, you can go to the top row and push the yellow one there all the way to the left, freeing up the blue gem in the northwest. This blue gem can be pushed to the south to unlock the stairs, allowing you to explore the final floor. Be careful of the Tongue fu fighters here, as they are stronger than the other enemies in this dungeon. The only thing to do here on the bottom floor is go into the middle and get a chunk from the big green gem , with the help of Maeve, who also gives you a Wooden Doll .

You have finished what you’ve needed to do in the mines, so trek all the way out, unless you have Maribel at level 5 and with 8 MP remaining, otherwise you can use Evac. Back at the village, you should now have a good amount of money to update some of your equipment, so do that and then save at the church. Report back to Patrick to give him the green gem, which will heal his father. You will automatically sleep at the inn, so when you wake up, visit Patrick again to find his dad, Hanlon, has been healed and will join your party as a guest. Rather than relax, he wants to bring the fight to the monsters at the tower.
