A Soviet engineer tried to defect, but was caught and is being held at the Wakh Sind Barracks. You have a choice between a southern start point or an eastern one; go with the eastern one. Wakh Sind Barracks is split up into a lower level and then the barracks themselves, which are located up a small hill. There aren’t too many enemies in the lower section, but you will need to keep an eye out for a jeep that passes through every now and then.

You will also want to watch out for two guards that roam the road in the lower section of this compound, as they are very close together, so they will be challenging to take down silently. The first thing you will want to do is interrogate an enemy to find out intel as to where they are keeping the engineer. You can also find some intel on the desk in the first building that will pinpoint the location of the engineer.

There might be one or two guys stationed at the foot of the hillside leading to the main compound, so it might be a good idea to take them out if you can. There will be some planted on the hill, as well. Once inside, hide behind something and try to scout out the place with your binoculars, so as to mark any enemies that you can find.

Interrogating enemies (left) is crucial to completing missions in an easy manner. Once you’ve found the engineer, extract him through the hole in the roof (right).

Considering the soldiers’ living quarters are just inside of the entrance, there will likely be a few milling about there. The big building is where the engineer is being held captive, with there being a few ways inside. One way is through the big opening on the side, but that puts you in danger of being spotted. Another way inside is via the ramp that leads up to a slightly open area, where you can find stairs to descend inside.

Whichever way you decide to go inside, be mindful that there will likely be more enemies waiting for you in there. You’re looking for a red door, which is going to be locked, but Snake will automatically pick it for you. Grab the engineer off the floor, where you can do one of two things. If you notice, the ceiling in the storeroom nearby on this bottom floor has some holes in it.

You can place the prisoner underneath one of them and extract him out through the hole (it completes one of the mission tasks if you do). The other method is to sneak back out of this building, preferably via the stairs, and go down the rocky terrain to lead you out of the compound, where you can safely extract the engineer without having to worry. However you do it, just get out of the hot zone yourself to finish the mission.

Mission Task 3

The prisoner plotting to escape can be found on the rock wall just above the entrance. It’s easier to get to him by climbing the crack that leads to the western side of the actual compound. If you wait until you get D-Dog as a Buddy, then he will pinpoint the location of the prisoner.

Mission Task 4

You will need the Cargo 2 upgrade for your Fulton Device before you can finish this task. This one is pretty easy to get, as the four-wheel vehicle will pass through Wakh Sind, so clear out the bottom area, plant a cardboard box, and simply wait for the vehicle to stop.

The blueprint can be found in the northwestern of the small buildings (left). The escaping prisoner is on top of the rocks by the entrance to the barracks (right).

Mission Task 5

The blueprint is located in one of the four small buildings that are close together on your map, inside of the compound. Find the two northernmost ones and look in the building on the western side. If you have trouble finding it, you can interrogate prisoners into eventually revealing the location.
