You will want to be fully prepared before you start Side Ops 150, as you are automatically forced into this mission without warning (well, except this one, of course). The big goal you want is a strong rocket launcher with high damage, as you will be facing off against a large number of armored vehicles and tanks. If you can manage to get your Mother Base up enough, the CGM 25 is a great choice.

Besides that, which is one of the more important things, you will also want the highest rank of the Battle Dress armor for Big Boss. If you’ve developed the D-Mines, then they can help, too. C4 might be useful in its stead, but they require you to manually detonate them, and you will need your full attention on your surroundings.

When you begin, run straight towards Lamar Khaate Palace to initiate a cutscene, after which the real fun will begin. You will be facing off against a bunch of armored vehicles and tanks, which will come in waves. Fortunately, you will have the help of Quiet, who will be perched on top of the palace ruins, providing cover for you. The catch is that if she dies, then you will fail and have to restart from the recent checkpoint.

Quiet will sit atop the ruins (left) and help with the battle. As long as you keep the enemy engaged (right), they won’t target Quiet.

Her health is shown at the top left of your screen and while she’s pretty much not going to get hit, she will draw enemy fire if things get too overwhelming for you, losing health, which can drop fast when you have tanks. The best area for this mission is the initial one, as you only really have to worry about the random soldier that might get to you, and then the enemy vehicles.

The biggest threats in this mission are the actual tanks, since they will usually sit in the dunes and fire their shells at you. Not only do these shells hurt, but the splash damage can be a big hindrance, as well. They should be your number one priority anytime you see them approaching, so concentrate on them at all times, using the building as cover. In fact, you can use the building to duck behind and then pop out for a shot.

You will also want to keep an eye out on the APCs that come, as they do contain enemy soldiers. Nothing would put a sour taste in your mouth if you happened to die to an enemy soldier you couldn’t see in the ensuing chaos. Also, you will likely want a decent amount of money in your reserves, as you will want to be calling in supply drops for your rocket launcher at all times. As soon as one drops, immediately call in another one so you don’t have to wait for ammo.

Basically, as long as you engage the enemy and aren’t just hiding, Quiet won’t have to resort to acting as bait for you, thus losing health or even the possibility of getting killed. Near the end of the whole ordeal, an enemy gunship will show up, which shouldn’t be too much of a problem, especially with the rocket launcher named above. Just make sure you peek out from behind cover in between the machine gun bursts.

The tanks (left) and the lone gunship near the end (right) are the most dangerous enemies in this mission.

After destroying the final vehicle, some cutscenes will play out and you’ll be carrying Quiet in a sandstorm. Enemies will be coming to try and find you, with your target being to get to the landing zone. It shouldn’t be too hard to get there without being seen, as long as you keep an eye on your map for the red circles and stay as far away from the road. After more cutscenes, climb the hill and go towards the one tree for a cutscene, then board the helicopter to finish the mission.

Mission Task 4

This is definitely one of the more challenging mission tasks in the game, as no matter what you do, it seems the enemy tanks and armored vehicles will always know your location. Calling in a sandstorm is ideal here, as it will help in obscuring your location from the enemy. The tough ones will be the vehicles that stop on the sand dunes, as this will require you to risk your life in getting to them. Do not do this at the same time as the task that has you protecting Quiet from damage, as it will prove to be very difficult.

Mission Task 5

Making sure that Quiet doesn’t take any damage can either prove to be very easy or very difficult, depending on the circumstances. As long as you keep the enemy’s attention during the whole ordeal, they shouldn’t target her, but if you’re having trouble, you can still issue orders to Quiet. Have her stand down and not act, as this will make sure that the enemies focus all their fire on you.
