Side Ops

Side Ops 51-60

Tip : There are a variety of ways to make the soldiers come quietly. Firstly, you can play them the tape of Paz humming (with the speaker on) or Paz’s song itself and approach them using that. They will instantly know you are the Boss and surrender. Secondly, you can creep near them in a cardboard box and they will surrender automatically as well. These are easier ways to extract the soldiers but you can still use the methods below should you decide against these suggestions.

Note: Each wandering Mother Base soldier Side Op will reward you with a Memento Photo, which you can show to Paz back on the medical platform on Mother Base.

51 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 01

This can be an annoying Side Ops, as the target is located high in the rocky terrain and when you get close enough, he will run away in a very fast and manic fashion. Sneaking up on him is a bit troublesome due to the erratic actions, but you can try sprinting after him and should he stop, pop him with a few tranquilizer darts, while trying to aim for the head.

If you have the RIOT SMG, then you can use that, as it doesn’t kill targets and only stuns them. Should he happen to attack you, use CQC to knock him out. However you take care of him, Fulton him back to Mother Base to finish the Side Ops. You will receive the Memento Photo, Miller and Paz , for rescuing him.

D-Dog can locate the Wandering Soldiers with ease but they're normally found in the center of the blue circle (left).

52 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 02

As with the first one, if you get too close, the soldier will go crazy and start running away from you. Bringing D-Dog with you will help in finding his exact location, which is on the hill in the middle of the blue circle on the map. To knock him out with a tranquilizer, you have to hit him in the head, or else he will flee (after throwing a smoke grenade).

Be careful when approaching the Wandering Soldiers. They can use a variety of methods to escape.

53 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 03

This wandering soldier is located just outside of the town, walking on the plains/amongst the trees. If you have a sniper rifle with tranquilizer rounds, then you should be able to hit him without alerting him to your presence, making it easier to nab him for extraction. Remember that only headshots will work, as anywhere else won’t knock him to sleep.

54 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 04

You will find this guy wandering to the west of Nova Braga Airport. Bringing D-Dog along will help in pinpointing his location without alerting him to your presence. He will be wandering in the flat section, on the "path" or near its entrance on your map. It’s wise to use a sniper rifle with tranquilizer rounds, as, like the others in previous missions, getting too close will cause him to run away.

55 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 05

You will find this soldier in the valley just south of Kungenga Mine. It is best to approach him from the south, as coming from the north will require you to pass by a bunch of enemies. You should be getting used to bringing D-Dog with you for these missions by now. This soldier will be carrying a shield on his back, making it difficult to get a good shot, at least if his back is turned.

56 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 06

Are you ready for an annoying soldier this time? As usual, head to the center of the blue circle on your map, bringing D-Dog to help pinpoint his location. The catch is that if you alert him to your presence, this soldier can cloak himself and he’ll become hard to track. Thankfully, you can equip your NVG to detect his body heat, but he won’t uncloak himself. Hopefully you have a silencer on your weapon, as there is an enemy guard post nearby.

Playing Paz's humming on loop with the speaker on (left) allows you to walk up the soldiers and they will surrender. Otherwise, they will run (right).

57 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 07

This can actually be a difficult Side Ops, as the soldier is located in the waters below (under the bridge) and if you put him to sleep, there’s a chance he may drown, making you fail the mission. So, you can either get as close as possible, tranquilize him and quickly get to him before he drowns, or you can lure him on to solid ground. It should be said that if he is alerted to your presence, he will use smoke grenades, as well as a cloaking mechanism.

58 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 08

You will find this wandering soldier to the south/southeast of the mansion from the Code Talker mission, in the jungle. Bringing D-Dog along with you helps tremendously in locating him, making it very easy to use your sniper rifle with tranquilizers to get a good shot at him.

As always, bring D-Dog to locate or proceed towards the center of the ring (left). Be careful with this one as he will throw a grenade which will knock you out (right).

59 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 09

This soldier is located on a hill just outside of guard post #10, which is northwest of Smasei Ruins. As before, bring D-Dog and your sniper rifle with tranquilizer rounds so you can take him out swiftly and silently. You’ll want to be careful to not alert him, as he might get close to the guard post.

This one has a high vantage point where he can easily see you (right). He can also cloak and run if startled.

60 - Extract the Wandering Mother Base Soldiers 10

This is the final wandering Mother Base Soldier, who will be located at Aabe Shifap Ruins. It’s better to take one of the two landing zones away from the ruins, so as to not alert the soldier. Bring your trusty combination of D-Dog and the tranquilizer sniper rifle to extract him.
