Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

Masterwork Handbow (Legendary)

By
Jarrod Garripoli

One of the best things about Borderlands games, as well as the spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, is the Legendary items you can find. These items are gold in color and tend to have unique effects that are exclusive to that particular one. This page will concentrate on the Legendary Pistol, the Masterwork Handbow.

Where to Find the Masterwork Handbow

The Masterwork Handbow can be found as a world drop, meaning it’s possible to get it from any loot source. However, it does have a dedicated loot source in the Captain Swallow miniboss. You will find this miniboss at the end of a Dungeon Door on the Overworld. These Dungeon Doors are little dungeons that have three rooms, where you need to kill enough enemies in the first two rooms to proceed to the third, where the miniboss will await you at the end, after killing even more enemies.

You will not be able to access this area of the Overworld until you’ve completed the Emotion of the Ocean main mission. When you are in the area with the Shrine of Grindanna, then you will be able to access this Dungeon Door. You don’t really need to do anything special to gain access to the door. In fact, if you plan on getting the Shrine Pieces for the Shrine of Grindanna, then you will be going through that Dungeon Door, as it contains one of the pieces.

Masterwork Handbow’s Stats and Effects

The Masterwork Handbow is a pistol that seems to not come with any elements at all, so it can always be used without worrying about elemental strengths/weaknesses. Additionally, it will only have a 1-shot magazine size, so you will need to reload after every shot. There is no name for the special effect, but it is listed below:

  • Critical Hits ricochet 6 crossbolts at the nearest enemy

How to Use the Masterwork Handbow

Due to the single shot magazine size, the Masterwork Handbow can be a powerful weapon in the hands of a Spellshot. Since you will be reloading after every shot, that means the Spellshot can quickly build up their stacks of Spellweaving, making their spells become that much more powerful. Overall, though, the Masterwork Handbow can be a powerful weapon in hands of any class. It usually comes with a high damage and if you can manage to get a Chaotic or Volatile variant, that damage will be even higher. A critical hit build will make this weapon even more insane, though, since the entire premise revolves around this weapon dealing critical hits.

So, if you’re building up Dexterity and have a character that is built around the idea of dealing critical hits, this can be one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Unfortunately, this weapon might not be quite as proficient at killing bosses, as the special ability doesn’t seem to ricochet to hit the boss and only appears to hit other enemies. Despite that, though, the weapon does appear to come with a Critical Hit Damage modifier often enough, where if you can still hit a boss’ weak spot, it will still do a lot of damage.
