The aquarium cunningly hides the entrance to the lower half of Route 8.

Attempt to head down the stairs and your rival will stop you. They’ll tell you what you should do in the town. Once they’re done talking, head to the Pokémon Center and heal up. You can also stock up on items if needed.

When you’re ready; head on out and let’s explore! You’ll find a person near the Pokémon Center who’ll give you TM94 - Rock Smash . Head into the nearby aquarium now. Inside head down the steps to the lower level. Speaking to a fisherman there, he’ll ask if you want an Old Rod .

Take him up on that offer and you’ll now be able to fish for Pokémon! Awesome! The exit near the fisherman leads to the second part of Route 8; but we won’t worry about that for a while. Instead head back outside into town.

Now head south. You’ll see another person who you can talk to daily to trade a Poké Ball for some kind of special ball. Feel free to do it as much as you want. There’s another daily event in the house just west of this guy. Inside you’ll find a woman that wants to see Pokémon with various stats. If you meet the requirements, she’ll reward you.

Rock Smash lets you break small rocks on the beach or in caves.

Now go back outside and down the steps leading south. Enter the hotel building here. Head to the east side of the bottom floor and speak with a girl there to receive TM96 - Nature Power . Now head upstairs; using the stairs on the west side of the floor.

In the eastern room on the second floor you’ll find the O-Powers guy again. Speak with him to receive a Sp. Def Power . He’ll head off afterwards. Leave the hotel and head north back up the stairs. At the top of the stairs; head east. When you pass the building; head inside.

It’s a fossil lab . A Hiker here will do something cool if you can show him a legendary Genesct . Head to the eastern part of the lab and your rival will catch up and come with you. After speaking with the scientists; head back outside and east into the gate. Speak with the girl wandering around here to receive a Rocky Helmet .

Tip #017: Relearnable TMs

For a change, TMs now function like HMs and can be used an infinite number of times! This is ace if you keep loads of Pokemon and don’t want to keep shelling out cash for additional TMs or - on the far extreme - restart your game just to get another totally awesome TM. Yep, we totally used to do that…
