Glitter in Ginza

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Glitter in Ginza is a Subquest in Shin Megami Tensei V. Most Subquests will reward you with a large amount of experience, some Macca, and then you’ll receive an item of sorts. Most of the time, it’ll be a Talisman which allows you to have access to the different Magatsuhi skills in the game.

Queen Medb wants you to dig up some jewels for her

Recommended Level Location Rewards
50+ Queen Medb; Chiyoda - Ginza Grimoire x3; Vitality/Agility/Luck Incense on repeat

Bring Queen Medb some buried jewels.

Where to start Glitter in Ginza

You will not be able to start this quest until you have defeated Ishtar in the main story, as well as opened up the ability to enter the Demon Lord’s Castle. Once you’re at this point in the game, head to the Sukiyabashi Leyline. Move forward, as if you were going toward Nihonbashi, and you will run into Queen Medb right next to a building before Demon Statue #10. This is the same spot where you saw a short scene with Ichiro and Abdiel earlier in the game. She wants you to find some jewels buried in the ground and bring them back to her.

Where to find the jewels for Glitter in Ginza

As Queen Medb mentioned, the jewels she wants are buried in the ground, so you will need a Navigator demon before anything. The two Navigator demons in Chiyoda are Hua Po and Decarabia. If you’ve completed The Path to Myojin Forest, then Hua Po will be right next to the Kanda-no-Yashiro Leyline; otherwise, she will be Ginza, near the beginning. Decarabia joined you during the main story and will be right next to the Tokyo Station Leyline. If you paid him 20,000 Macca both times during the story, then he will gladly join you again for free. If not, then you will have to pay him 40,000 Macca to have him join as a Navigator once more; this fee is required each time you dismiss him and want him to rejoin.

Of the two options, Decarabia seems to be the better fit for finding the required jewels. Queen Medb will want the following jewels: Diamond x2, Garnet x3, and Aquamarine x3. The amount you get from the various scavenging points will be random and you’re not guaranteed to even find the jewels every time. If you utilized Decarabia as a Navigator demon during the main story, then it’s possible you may already have the necessary jewels before starting the quest. Either way, once you have them, turn in the jewels to complete the quest. If you have any extra jewels left over, you can turn them in for the following:

(1 of 2) Decarabia is the best option when doing this quest

Decarabia is the best option when doing this quest (left), Keep plugging away at the Navigator treasures until you fight the jewels (right)

  • Diamond x2 - Vitality Incense
  • Garnet x3 - Agility Incense
  • Aquamarine x3 - Luck Incense

Recommended Party

Since you will not need to battle any demons to find the jewels, there is no recommended party for this quest. You simply need to run around with a Navigator demon to pick up those treasures they find. Note that it’s highly likely you will run into some fights while doing this, so a level of 50+ should present no problems. Considering you have to wait until after defeating Ishtar for this quest to appear, you should be of an adequate level.
