Quests

Subquest Location Reward
Abaddon’s Assault Northwest of Shinobazu Pond Leyline Grimoire x3

During the second round of Abscesses, you should have gotten the Shinobazu Pond Leyline, but to make things a little more coherent, let’s begin at the Ueno Park Leyline. Go west, to the narrow passage with the Hecatoncheires, then south and around to the shallow pond area. Follow the dry path north and around to the fork, where you will want to go southwest. Just north of the vending machines will be Miman #176, who is standing on the rocky ledge overlooking the pond. Continue south from here and you will run into a group of Kurama Tengu, one of which will give you the Abaddon’s Assault quest. As the name suggests, you will need to defeat Abaddon for this, a level 61 Punishing Foe you have already seen.

(1 of 3) Miman #176 is looking over the pond right in plain sight

There is a path to the east of the Kurama Tengu, which is an exit from the ponds, if you happened to fall in them. However, you will want to go in them, keeping in mind the Sui-Ki that will pop up to attack you. In the southwest corner of the southern section of the pond, you will find Miman #177. Also in the southern half, towards the northeastern section, there will be Demon Statue #16 - Forneus. The northern half will have two sets of two Treasure Boxes each, both of which will be guarded by some Sui-Ki. The southern set of treasures include an Aogami Type-9 Essence and a Fuu-Ki’s Essence, with the northern set containing a Lachesis’s Essence and an Arahabaki’s Essence. Return to the Kurama Tengu and head southwest, where you will see a climbing block on your map.

This will lead to a ledge that has Miman #178 on it, so drop down and grab it. As you make your way to the Shinobazu Pond Leyline, there will be a rooftop of a building you can reach just west of it (you don’t need to jump to it). Look on this rooftop to find Miman #179. Jump down to the street below and head west to a dead end, where you discover a Treasure Box with a Scathach’s Essence. As you venture back east, stop at the second building on your north side, and check around back to find Miman #180 on a rock. A little bit to the east is a T-intersection, where you will want to go south. Pass underneath the train tracks and stop, where you should see an Amalgam to your west and a Treasure Box to your east.

(1 of 4) Miman #178 is southwest of the Kurama Tengu, down some climbing blocks

The treasure is on top of a building, but if you go in between the buildings and behind the southern one, you will find Miman #181. Return to underneath the train tracks and look for the opening to your west, which is where you want to go. Eventually, you will see a hole in a building, so pass through it and to the other side. There will be a Nebiros here, so be mindful of the Decarabias that he spawns. Start making your way up the train tracks, but stop a little ways up to enter the one building, where there will be a Treasure Box (50,000 Macca). Get back on the tracks and keep moving, until you can get off of them to your north. Jump onto the rooftop there and follow them west to find Amalgam #36. Beyond the Amalgam, if you take a gander over the lip of the rooftop, you will also see Miman #182.

Double back to the tracks and stop when you get to the second Amalgam on your map. You will need to jump down to the rocks to reach it, on the southern side of the tracks, so do that to get Amalgam #37. Get back to where you dropped down and continue on the tracks to the second train. You can hop to the ruined building on the north to find some vending machines, then use those as a stepping stone to reach the upper floor. From there, cross the fallen pillar to reach the next building and loot the Treasure Box (Bead). Back on the tracks, there will be a little area to your east, with a Mitama and three more Treasure Boxes. These will give you an Alice’s Essence, a Mitra’s Essence, and a Ganesha’s Essence.

(1 of 3) Amalgam #36 is on the rooftops, easily accessible via the train tracks

There’s one last treasure in this section to grab, so get back on the tracks. On the southern side, where the train ends, there is a small gap that allows you to jump down to the ruined building on that side. Do that, then look in the nearby building to spot the Treasure Box (Decarabia’s Essence). Go back to underneath the train tracks, like earlier, and continue south to an overpass. Head east here and jump onto the fallen highway, and drop down to another section of it. You will pass a ruined building here, where you can jump to it and secure another Treasure Box, this cone holding a Seth’s Essence. That wraps up this bit of exploration, so it’s time to continue onto the next areas.
